I'm standing up for Canada here. It's not a beanie, pulled-down ski cap (wtf!), or any other word. Just to clarify, the word is toque. (http://www.ocanadagear.com/graphics/toque-cdn-red.jpg)
Sorry, but that's been bothering me lately.

Honestly though, I had never heard of the word Toque before. I always thought of it as ski caps for canadians.
the word is toque.
I don't know why, but this reminds me of another word:

It's called a macaque, which I personally find to be the funniest word in the English language.

I know how you feel My job is to get large media files for movies and TV out of Canada so I deal with Canadians all the time and I can guarentee you they are always toqueing something. You can tell because they're always either holding their breath or coughing whenever I call.

It's pronounced "took" to rhyme with "juke" as in "juke box". Toque.
Which is why, as a Canadian, I was raised to spell it "touque". But why split hairs.
Toque. Of course, toquing grass is a lot of fun too...

No, it's the hat you wear in the winter to keep warm. No brim.

Cut some holes in it, and Fat Albert's friend Dumb Donald could have a new hat to wear. ;)
