Biggie is the greatest artist of our time.

If you say it, it must be true.

They both got their asses shot, so I'm not so sure how clever either of them qualify as.

Horatio Nelson got his ass shot too, and he was a clever dude.

Meh, I'm not a great fan of either. With rap, the thing is usually: The earlier, the better. Both Pac and Biggie came at a time when things were already going downhill.

Unless you are a rapper. :p

Unless you are a rapper. :pFool! Both were shot in drive by shootings. If they'd just stayed in the recording studios and ordered takeout they would have still been with us today.

Plus cannons are quite undiscrimantory. Whereas you can get quite accurate with small firearms.

Neither were the greatest artists of our time, musically or generally.

Both made millions of dollars but wanted to continue being, "OG"s so they got shot up the ass because they were too stupid to stop.

The only thing good about either of them was the music videos that came after their death.

Yeah ... that sort of thing cracks me up. Wanna-be studio thugs drivin' in an Escalade and wearing $100,000 worth of jewelry rappin' about the ghetto.

The revolution is a capitalist circle-jerk.

The only thing good about either of them was the music videos that came after their death.

The tribute concerts were nice.

They both sucked.
And, if anyone is mourning their death in any way: live by the gun, die by the gun (not meant to excuse the murdurers etc). By it is a shame that they are not around and Snoop Dogg is - compared to that guy, they both had class.

Dear Mama is another song that I really love. Keep ya Head Up, Life Goes On, Hail Mary, the list goes on.

Anyone with a message is worth listening too at least once.

What do you think would be the point in saying something about the Beatles in return? Is it mandatory to like them if you don't like Biggy or Tupac?
And, if this wasn't, then what was your point?

No I was simply stating how this is all opinion and that in disliking both is sheer opinion.

Looking back I do see how it was unnecessary though. Ugh, I hate waking up early.

I could have sworn I was told that Tupac grew up in suburban California in a nice house in a middle-class neighborhood...? GHETTO AS A MUFFUCKA!

Biggie on the otherhand got more pussy than 99% of mankind, and the guy weighed 350lbs. How can you not respect that?

They were both very overrated, in my opinion. I remember watching 'Channel One' in Middle School, as they were covering Tupac's shooting. We actually put off -learning- to watch it.

Far be it from me to wish death upon anyone, but since he's dead, I'll say I think the world is a far better place without Tupac. And, besides, now all his fanbois can sit around and discuss the 'deeper meanings' behind his rhymes... HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!

[/sarcasm]
I hate rap in general. Hip-hop is something I can listen to, usually only when high. If you want good artist (2Pac has the respect, even though I don't really like it), Aesop Rock, Sage Francis, Atmosphere, El-P, Edan

This goes out to the Pac fans who dis Biggie.

This goes out to you
This goes out to you, and you, and you, and you

Verse One:

Your reign on the top was short like leprechauns
As I crush so-called willies, thugs, and rapper-dons
Get in that ass, quick fast, like ramadan
Its that rap phenomenon Don-Dadda, fuck Poppa
You got ta, call me, Francis M.H. White
in tank-light totes, tote iron
Was told in shootouts, stay low, and keep firin
Keep extra clips for extra shit
Who's next to flip, on that cat with that grip on rap
The mo shady, "Tell em!", Frankie baby
Ain't no tellin where I may be
May see me in D.C. at Howard Homecomin
with my man Capone, dumbin, fuckin somethin
You should know my steelo
Went from ten G's for blow to thirty G's a show
to orgies with hoes I never seen befo'
so, Jesus, get off the Notorious
penis, before I squeeze and bust
If the beef between us, we can settle it
With the chrome and metal shit
I make it hot, like a kettle get
You're delicate, you better get, who sent ya?
You still pedal shit, I got more rides than Great Adventure
Biggie, "How are you gonna do it?"

Chorus: repeat 4X

Kick in the door, wavin the four-four
All you heard was Poppa don't hit me no more

Verse Two:

On ya mark, get set, when I spark, ya wet
Look how dark it get, when ya marked with death
Should I start your breath should I let you die
In fear you start to cry, ask why
Lyrically, I'm worser, don't front the word sick
You cursed it, but rehearsed it
I drop unexpectedly like bird shit
You herbs get, stuck quickly for royalties and show money
Don't forget the publishin, I punish em, I'm done with them
Son, I'm surprised you run with them
I think they got cum in them, cause they, nothin but dicks
Tryin to blow up like nitro and dynamite sticks
Mad I smoke hydro rock diamonds, that's sick
Got pay off my flow, rhyme with my own click
Take trips to Cairo, layin with yo bitch
I know you prayin you was rich, fuckin prick
When I see ya I'ma

Chorus

Verse Three:

This goes out for those that choose to use
Disrespectful views on the King of NY
Fuck that, why try, throw bleach in your eye
Now ya Braille in it, stash that light shit, or scalin it
Conscience of ya nonsense in eighty-eight
Sold more powder than Johnson and Johnson
Tote steel like Bronson, vigilante
You wanna get on son, you need to ask me
Ain't no other king in this rap thing
They siblings, nothing but my chil'ren
One shot, they disappearin
Its ill when, MC's used to be on cruddy shit
Took home, Ready to Die, listened, studied shit
Now they on some money shit, successful out the blue
They light weight, fragilly, my nine milly
make the white shake, thats why my money never funny
And you still recoupin, stupid *echoes*

Tupac and Biggie were victims of their stupid lifestyles. Overrated? absolutely. Their deaths were the products of what they in part created, something that kills scores of young men who wish to aspire to their lifestyle every year. Did some of the beats sound good? Yes. But the lyrics are twisted into being this amazing stuff that people claim rivals Bob Dylan. It is the most ridiculous claim ever. I'm worried that it'll go down in history books as being so.

And I swear, if I hear another goddamn person link Tupac and Machiavelli in the same breath...

So people from such a background can't define their own culture through their own words because it rivals our own. Bob Dylan had great lyrics, terrible singer though.

I see no changes
Wake up in the morning and ask myself
Is life worth living or should I blast myself
I'm poor even worse I'm black
My stomach hurts so I'm looking for a purse to snatch
Cops give a damn about a negro
Pull the trigger, kill a nigga, he's a hero
Give it back to the kids, who the hell cares
One less ugly mouth on the welfare
...
I got love for my brothers
But we can't go nowhere till we share with each other
We gotta start making changes
See us as brothers rather than two different strangers
...
Still I see no changes
All I see are racist faces
Misplaced hate disgraced the races
...
The only time we chill is when we kill each other
It takes skill to be real, time to heal each other

Yeah no message at all...

They're both overrated, but Pac is better IMO.

Immortal Technique, Brother Ali, Sage Francis, Aesop Rock, El-P, among countless others, all sweep the floor with both of them, though.

Yeah. Neither were that great.

Well, their appeal was to the young, apolitical mainstream. Not to a a bunch of nerds like us that are more concerned with politics, culture and history than guns, bitches, money and cars.

So naturally they wont be that popular on here, I personally prefer hip hop like Black Sheep, A Tribe Called Quest and Nas.
Andre Nickatina is damn cool too though. And some of the french stuff from 'Iam' also rocks.

If I had to choose between Pac or Biggie though, I would have to choose Pac though. WEST COAST ALL DAY!
