I now have more Bad Religion than Beatles...Another Eccentric Thread by Me

Yeah, so I managed to pillage my neighbors music, and after nearly seven months as the reigning champions of my music library, the Beatles have been dethroned by Bad Religion. Which, I must say is quite enjoyable. Even if I think the Beatles are better, but that's a whole different story.

And my beloved cordouroy jackets smells delightfully of girls.

That last part was random...

As for the rest, sounds good to me. Bad Religion also reigns supreme over my playlist (although I'm hoping to get my hands on more stuff by the Minutemen, which may tip the balance until Bad Religion's next album comes out). Do you have the stuff off of "Into the Unknown"

Because then... I would envy you. I've wanted to get my hands on a copy for forever.

I now have more William Shatner than I have Plastic Bertrand.

Well, y'know, in keeping with the OP.

I've got all of "Into the Unknown." Yeah, it's awesome.

It's depressing how little clash I have, because they are an absurd band, I just can't seem to get around to buying any because every time I'm at the Singing Dog's I look at the clash and I think to myself "I'm just going to take my dad's LP's over to CD someday" and I never buy any. Until then I just have to live with the clash on LP, which is pretty decent.

I have more Led Zeppelin than anything else, unless you count videos/DVDs, in which case Nirvana wins.

This post was unnecessary, I know. So uh.... Dead Kennedys > Bad Religion.

I can see the arguement, I really can. California Ueber Alles is awesome, and some of the banter on the "Live at the Deaf Club" version is great, and my jury is still out on who's better.

Maybe Punkwise, but the Dead Kennedys give me migraines. Biafra may write genius lyrics, but his vocals are enough to send anyone into convulsions. Beyond that, they really are formulaic, and in their lifespan they never really managed to evolve or create anything new. Bad Religion not only has amazing lyrics, but it's music is bearable.

I don't understand the whole Nirvana thing, but that's just me I suppose.

Interestingly, I have more Front 242 than anything else...I guess that's what happens when you copy a shitload of music off one of your housemates. Then it's Pink Floyd and NOFX.
I have 11 minutes 15 seconds of The Beatles - all of two songs.
And 3 hours 28 minutes of 65daysofstatic. I'd have more, but that's all they've done...

I'm going to have to beg to differ. Bad Religion bore me, i'm afraid. I simply haven't heard anything by them that has made me "Wow". They're an okay band, but they just don't click with me. Jello's vocals are...unique, but for whatever reason, I happen to like his style, and they generally don't annoy me at all. When I put on the DK's, i'm usually in the mood for aural chaos, so that's probably why. :p

First band I got into. I heard Bleach and it got me into music immediately, because at that time, I hadn't heard anything like it.

I have more Johnny Cash (13 vinyl LPs) than The Clash (9 or 6 vinyl LPs depending on how you count their double and triple). Quite alarmingly Status Quo (12 or 13 vinyl LPs, once again depending on how you count double LPs) come next in my record collection in terms of numbers, and the Quo records only cover the period '67 to '78.

Edit: if we are counting digital music here then the 70 or so hours of bootlegs by The Clash put them well in front.

I hope you are thoroughly ashamed of yourself.

Only for those Quo records which date from the 77-78 period.

Shed your prejudices and listen to them before they discovered cocaine and were instead whacked out of their gourd on amphetamines and pot. You may be pleasently surprised. However, even at the start of their coke period they still knocked out a couple of amazing performances - the live version of Big Fat Mama on their 76 live double LP would not only fit, but also shine, if it had been on Kick Out The Jams.

I don't dissagree with Bad Religion being a tad bit boring, I just can't make it through more than one or two songs by the DKs. I suppose that creates a bit of a bias, but it really does cause me pain (I can normally make it through Uber Alles or Holiday in Cambodia, though, because they're a little less chaotic). Earlier Bad Religion (when they were still doing hardcore, not the more poppish stuff they do now) may strike you as more interesting than modern stuff (Anything off of Suffer or Generator is worth a listen, IMO). Also, their latest (Empire Strikes First) album seems to reject the poppish sound of their previous albums a bit. Much darker in tone and instrumentation.

First band I got into. I heard Bleach and it got me into music immediately, because at that time, I hadn't heard anything like it.

Same, actually. The first band I played in was all about a Nirvana obsession (I "Played drums", which actually meant slamming drumsticks down on a badly abused drumkit at random) that we all shared. I just got disillusioned with the whole Grunge movement as having sold out the entire punk movement into a mainstream.

As a Washington native, it actually gets absurd how obsessive people are about Nirvana (It's a local thing. It doesn't matter what kind of rock you normally like, you have to like Nirvana because they were local. Hendrix, ironically, has much less of a cult of personality.).

It's good to have more Bad Religion than Beatles, as Bad Religion is better.

Currently, I have the most Nirvana, though they will probably soon be eclipsed by the Melvins, Motörhead, and Napalm Death as the latter three are still making music and I am unlikely to buy any more Nirvana bootlegs.
