What are your favorite calls? Here are mine:

"5 seconds left. DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLE! YES!!!" - Al Michaels 1980 Olympic Men's Hockey Semi-finals

"There it goes! A long drive If it stays fair... HOMERUN!!! We will have a 7th game in this 1975 World Series. Carlton Fisk becomes the first player in this series to hit it over the monster." - Game 6 of the 1975 World Series.

"He OK's the sign. From the stretch with a runner at 2nd, here's the 1-2 pitch to Palmeiro. A ground ball past Jenks, up the middle of the infield, Uribe has it! He throws. OUT!!! OUT!!! A WHITE SOX WINNER AND A WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP!!!! THE WHITE SOX HAVE WON THE WORLD SERIES!!!!"- John Rooney, Sox radio announcer on WMVP ESPN radio 1000 (this is my favorite)

"Contreras gave up 2 runs in the 5th and fell behind 3-2. He has been tough, tough, tough since then. Here's a swing and a ground ball to first. KONERKO HAS IT HE STEPS ON THE BAG!!! THE WHITE SOX HAVE WON THE PENNANT. THEY'VE WON THE PENNANT. A WHITE SOX WINNER AND THEY ARE GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES!!!' - John Rooney

"Swing and a long one to left!!! It's gonna go!!! It's a slam!!! LIGHT IT UP!!!!" - John Rooney after Paul Konerko hits a grandslam to put the Sox up 6-4 in game 2 of the 2005 World Series. BTW, "light it up" is in reference to the exploding scoreboard that lights up and shoots fireworks for every Sox homer.

Your first two are the only ones that don't show your allegiance. As much as I loved "Ground ball stabbed by Foulke, he has it! He underhands to first, and for the first time in 86 years the Boston Red Sox are the World Champions! Can you believe it?", I doubt it's top 5 all time.

My number one would have to be "THE BAND IS ON THE FIELD! THE BAND IS ON THE FIELD!"

Thanks for the audio link btw. I am as pumped as one can be for april, and this is contributing :D. Unfortunatley now that I live in Texas, I only get to go the four days they are here.

"Here's the pitch on the way, the swing, and a belt! Left field! Way back! Blue Jays win! Blue Jays win! The Blue Jays are World Series champions as Joe Carter hits a three-run home run in the ninth inning and the Blue Jays have repeated as World Series Champions! Touch 'em all Joe! You'll never hit a bigger home run in your life!" - Toronto Blue Jays radio announcer Tom Cheek describing Joe Carter's World Series clinching home run. :)

Joe Carter, Toronto, hits the first (and so far only) come-from-behind walk-off home run to win a World Series (Bill Mazeroski's famous home run in 1960 was hit with the score tied). The fourth game, won 15-14 by Toronto, is the highest-scoring game in any World Series. Toronto becomes the first repeat World Champions since the 1977-78 New York Yankees.

How sweet it was!! :D

I can't wait for Saturday. The game will be on WGN. El Duque is pitching for Arizona. I don't know who's going for the Sox, but I hope it's Buehrle.

Unfortunatley I am not going to spring training this year, and my cable package doesn't carry WGN so I have to settle with highlights.

An announcer in my fair land has once said: "Gol! Pula gol." It was during a soccer match, and he didn't want to say it, but he was rooting for one of the teams. There was a tense moment, a shot, and... The first part translates as "Goal!". The second one, roughly as "Fuck it, it wasn't".
I never heard his voice again.
