Sticky Situation: Student Duct-Taped To Wall

POSTED: 5:02 pm EST February 27, 2006
UPDATED: 6:11 pm EST February 27, 2006

CHARTIERS TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A student was taped to the wall at a school -- and it was caught on video, police said.

Chartiers Township police said that they received videotape found by an administrator of the Western Area Career & Technology Center, in Canonsburg.

The video showed a student being duct-taped by his arms, hands and head to the wall of a bathroom, police said.

According to police, an aerosol was sprayed on the student's shoes and the floor and then ignited.

Police said that on the tape, does not appear that the student was injured in the incident, nor does it appear the student was held against his will.

Police believe the video was made early in the morning on Feb. 15, and that at least seven students were involved.

The school did not suffer any damage.

Police are continuing their investigation.

Ah yes and where else but good old Pennsylvania for this to take place. You know i can remember a time when if you wanted to be cool, you had to have the rambo or chuck norris lunchbox with matching thermos. now you gotta set yourself on fire? *sigh* kids these days.

"Jackass" is to blame. Kids are know to copy them. The end product sucks, as a general rule.

More importantly, why did they bring a video camera into the equation? They should've known that would've been absolute self-incrimination.

But then, in my school you were popular for being smart, pretty, nice, funny.....any amount of things, as long as you weren't a total douche. Seems these kids would never have cut it in my crowd.

Simonist... what kind of a school did you go to? Certainly nothing like any of the ones I've ever been to. And I've heard of worse things kids have done for popularity. Drugs for instance. Cutting themselves. Partial or full public nudity. Etc.

Just the run of the mill, everyday overcrowded high school. The kind where, if you're popular, you better hope to Christ you have a good memory, because you'll have more to worry about than just your own class of over 6000 students. But we were also the magnet school for the special education and hearing impaired students, we had the highest amount of Presidential Service Awards throughout the state the past several years, we've got the International Baccalaureate program, and every few years we regularly have several students who get perfect scores on either the ACT or SAT. Add the highest per capita funding for the arts programs throughout the county, and that's my high school.

Yes, I realize we're far from the average social system....that's why I liked it so much when I was going there.

Haha, and I was the girl who regularly got upset because kids like you never wanted to eat with me when I offered.....come to think of it, I do believe that's one of the reasons I started sneaking out for lunch by my sophomore year....

For the record, Thriceaddict, I'm a she.

That's probably where I should have gone... well, actually, it'd be wasted on an antisocial egoist like me. ^_^ No complaints.

I heard from somebody that in schools in Cali, there is some sort of self-choking competition (choking your own neck for the longest time possile). Has anybody heard of this? I hope I heard it wrong.

Maybe it's just as well then; I was the kid (still am, actually) who always sat alone and if someone sat down at the same table, I gave them an icy look and moved. That's part of the reason why people knew enough to avoid me by the end of my first year or so.

When there were no empty tables, I had my lunch period switched to a later time when almost nobody was around.

It's called the "American dream" around here. Makes you trip from lack of oxygen. Not recommended.

I love living in PA.. If theres not a guy in a bunny suit getting beat up at a church, theres a duct tape incident.

We here in PA are very smart. My aunt let my cuz go to a prom party. When she found out my cuz got alc poisoning she called the cops.

Heh... people in general tend to be very intelligent indeed where it comes to alcohol. Or drugs for that matter. :p

At my HS, a 13-year-old guy dressed up in a purple tutu and a tiara and danced around the school theatre to get "popular."
It worked, as well.

So I would like to speak as a native PA resident that not all kids these days are crazy. I mean I was never the cool kid in school, but even the cool kids didn't involve fire in their daily activities.

Yes, well the only way you can be popular at my school is if you *are* a douche. The jocks keep chucking crap at a table full of druggies over from mine and I'm caught right in the middle of it, taking sh*t from both sides. The teachers are too scared to discipline them coz their the core of our football (American football for all the Euro's here) team next year.

Yea, I could never get into high school "politics" either. I cared more about what was going on in the rest world then who was fucking who, who smoked what, who pissed on what, etc, etc.

I can choke myself without using my hands. I use it as an over dramatic way of saying "that idea sucks and I'd rather be choked to death".

and fire, setting shit on fire is just fun.

I never judge anyone according to their looks. Perhaps that's why I'm so harsh and judgmental. (Or just mental.) ;)
