Final Destination

For those of us who love glory and guts, like me, All three Final Destination movies provide it and more! The common theme of all three movies is that several people survive a massive death, and thus death has to go back and kill them, and the cast basically try to run from death. However, as I watch FD:3 this weekend, I've notice something. Today I re-watch 1 and 2, and I've noticed the same thing. Is it me, or are most of these death are either accidental, due to mechanical problems, or that everything was set up to happen by the cast themselves. Maybe the underlining message in this series is that not that we can't escape our fate, but that sometimes we create our own fate?

Terminator 3 blows that theory out of the water. How could Ah-nuld be wrong?

Well the end of T2 set it up nicely for the 'We make our own destiny' crap... but then T3 came out and by the end of that, it was "Well, actually try as you might- fate is predetermined. Do all you can but the inevitable will happen regardless"

Bottom line: Hollywood lies  *slaps cheek*

LOL! Yea, but we're talking about FD, not T1,2,3.

I think the underlying message is that no matter how hard you try, a series of improbably unlucky events will always seem like a comedy. *remembers guy falling past skyscraper window in Lost flashback*

Is it wrong that as the movie (FD 1,2 or 3) progressed, I was hoping death would win... and hurry up about it?

I mean those kids... they damn well deserved to die... them and their perfect teeth and hair... BAH!

In FD3 I was actually laughing when the two blonde bimbos died! Too bad they didn't have their breast burst. LOL! That was funny.

I find the Final Destination movie so funny. Everyone else will be in shock because of the gore and I'll be in hysterics because of the unlikely nature of the fatal accident. Why does Death bother with all the knives and screws coming loose when a car crash would be so much easier?

I think it proves that no matter how badly a film sucks, no matter how trite the plotline, you can always find someone to put up the money to make two sequels (and you can always find people to watch them).

Or a simple heart failure? Or lightening strike? I mean... its Death. I doubt he overcomplicates the whole dying thing.

Even anthropomorphical personifications need to relax and have fun, once in a while. Clogging an artery is so... dull, when you had events like the Black Plague Carnival...

Reaction to Final Destination: Hm, cookie cutter teen scare flick with a twist or two borrowed from ancient tales of death-cheating.

Reaction to FD 2: Um. I guess it wasn't final at all, was it?

Reaction to FD 3: Really now. Either Death is slacking off or Terry Pratchett's got him on lockdown in Discworld.

Maybe the makers are hoping that if they keep getting worse and worse, they'll go beyond bad and wind up in Sam Raimi territory.

Not only is he incompetent, but he has nothing better to do with his time then follow a bunch of teenagers around, bothering each one with one Rube Goldberg-esque series of events after another until they finally die, just to break the monotony.

whenever someone dies in those films, they should lead it up by playing "Powerhouse" by Raymond Scott.

You're not the only one who wants people to die in movies. Especially if they are stupid. Intelligent people I root for though. One of my favorite examples. Wrong Turn, a cheesy horror movie (I love this genre). Group of 3, doctor and 2 miscellaneous girls who it doesn't go into that much. They see one girl's boyfriend get shot in the back with an arrow from the inbred mutant guy's bow and arrow. They see him die and get dragged away. 100% positive he's dead. They drive away. Girl: (sobbing) "We have to go back! We have to go back!" She gets them caught throughout that movie multiple times, and does even more stupid possibly fatal acts. Like when the truck gets stuck, and they need to go on foot. She won't move. She just sits there crying. I would be like, "Okay, see ya!" She stalls them and they almost all die AGAIN. When she finally got axed in the face, my whole family cheered.:D
