Words that make you giggle

So in another thread, me, Peechland, and Straughn decided that the acronym *FLORT* will make you giggle if you say it out loud.

So here is the deal. What words can you not help but smile at when you say them? You know the ones, they just make you feel good.

I'd go with Koosh.

Ah ... *FLORT*
Well, i could give a long diatribe as i oft do, but this time i'll be "straight" about it ...
I got sick of the terms "LMAO" and "ROTFL" because there's no smooth way of saying them outside of script. So, for two reasons, i coined *FLORT* -
One, a really, really good laugh (perhaps w/a tear or two) can make someone snort as well as laugh and that tends to interrupt the whole flow of the thing (Snort + chuckle = chortle, for example) - so *FLORT* sounded about right.
Two, *FLORT* is quite connotative, as evidenced by the work you folks submitted yourself to by going through the trouble of saying it, and it still performs some kind of reactive function.
That's why, not much else a reason, really.

Another thing, i call "Honky" before anyone else, if i didn't already take too long.
The story behind me calling Man in Black "Honky in Black" is another simple one ... he and i both apparently love the word for reasons that aren't well expressed, and he said he'd be honoured to be called that. So i do. He's yet to coin mine yet, but i told him if he didn't come up with one he liked, i'd settle for "Honky Straughn" (which itself is quite connotative if you say it).

Thanks. That's only about the first hours' worth, i had to come up with three more ... and my music isn't usually 4/4 time, so i tried to pick stuff that was worthwhile but not too difficult. Some of them we'd done in prior years so we could pick up the slack. I really didn't have enough time to prepare everyone (besides, we all have other jobs and lives, ya know).

Actually i mentioned you and Minoriteeburg on Friday for some topic and for some song, but i can't remember what. I played John Petrucci, a song off the Aladdin soundtrack, a live version of "Running Up That Hill" from Kate Bush (which is another song we're doing), and a bunch of other tunes i have since forgotten. That happens since i end up always having visitors and i have to basically hope that there's no cussing or skipping on the songs ($500,000 potential fine! ...although not likely since after 11pm here, the FCC is MEGA-lax)

Yep, i'm doin' Duran Duran. Might do "Save A Prayer" this summer also.

EDIT: The *only* reason i'm not doing Men At Work is the lack of a sax or flute player. Else i'd have done "Overkill" and "Who Can It Be Now?" already.

There's a couple i'm REALLY looking forward to (i mightn't already have mentioned)-
"Linoleum" from Tweeker,
"Surrender" from Depeche Mode,
"Head Over Heels" from Tears For Fears (and on that topic, of course inspired by Donnie Darko ...
"Mad World")
"Bring Me The Disco King" (Underworld sndtk) from David Bowie,
"Could've Gone Mad" from Poe,
"Flutes of Chi" from Ween,
"Cynically Yours" from Amy Rigby,
"Stupid" from Sarah McLachlan, and
"Grace" and "New Year's Prayer" from Jeff Buckley.

I may just have to configure the studio to do that sometime. I usually have fun, and i dance around the whole "impartiality" clause that is kinda vital to the continuation of NPR (contrary to what right-wingers think). So long as i don't make any calls to action, nor endorse any particular political platform, nor accept payment for any action i take in regards to the studio/NPR, i'm okay. When i started i broke two federal laws right off the bat, two of the most expensive ones. But i was forgiven due my gross negligence, and i also still haven't gotten a thorough explanation for the whole "underwriting" vs. "sponsoring" issue.
It covers most of our borough, but i can only count on 6 or 7 different listeners and a good portion of our local community college to be my ear. And occasion, someone who wants to try and rat me out (since i'm not dissimilar here too much than i am there as material goes)
I can basically inflect derision or scoff, but i don't give a personal opinion or something that isn't easily cross-referenced or whatever.
I know what i was mentioning Minoriteeburg about ... it was the sheep thing (btw Verdigroth got me on NS, and he used to come by the studio and try and f*ck me up on-air for the fun of it, being live and all - he got a couple good shots ...alas, he's at college in Fairbanks now).

It's an NPR sub. I don't think we have enough $ to power the watts it would take for an average-discriminator FM to pick us up in the states. We also pick stuff off of the landline (from Homer), which also gets its stuff largely from satellite. However, there's a show on tonight (already passed, Le Show from Harry Shearer of The Simpsons, it comes on at nine pm here ... a lot of the stuff he covers is like what i cover, except he does planned sketches and a lot of music i've never heard - fair since i play a lot of what isn't normally heard either. Oh yeah, and he's got copyright and all that, i just get catchphrases and the like - *FLORT* for example)

Although i don't have the set-up for it, it could be arranged ... but since it's under the NPR umbrella, i imagine i'd have to just copy my shows and disavow any connection whatsoever to my host (legal reasons of distribution)
haha...no need to go through such efforts...I suppose I can live without it;)

Oh yeah, i should've mentioned this a long time ago ...

Foible.
ha...I actually think I performed that at an improv and sketch comedy night a while back.

I dont laph, I dont giggle, I dont snort,
I am a pesimist, and your joy and laphter makes me burn with anger,
The more I am angerd, the more you suffer, and the more you suffer, the better off the world is.

this is your eternal tourtur.

actually, I think my eternal "tourtur" is your spelling and excessive use of smileys, but none the less, I follow Straughns lead and will fluffle you.:fluffle:

men tend to dislike (iirc) moist over used, whereas women dislike used over moist.

I might have that backwards.

Argh! That was one of the first i'd considered for the games. Topical, even.
'cept i'd determined that five people would be needed, and i only have four in my band. :( How'd that go?

Oh, and Honky in Black nick'd me something new ... funny you should mention "Almighty", though, since i've got a friend who used that in her email and i still call her that. She is indeed. *nods*

It went pretty well...we used it as a warm up to a blues clues sketch me and my friend wrote where steve got murdered brutally. good times. Same year I had to cross dress.

TMI?

I think I saw Honky in Black's new nickname for you...long straughn silver? Or am I making that up?

The Almighty Straughn seemed fitting since I think I quote you more than just about anyone else, and you've been keeping me amused this last week.

Well, i wouldn't worry about TMI, since this is the net and all, and besides, my posts are just a bit on the disturbing side at times.
Yep, Straughn John Silver, arrr.
And i'm glad i could be of some useful purpose other than to vex Verdigroth!
I'll be intermittant over the next week - we play Monday, Thursday and Friday, and for Tuesday i'll be in Anchorage. The rest of my time is mostly practice, it would appear.

considering our first conversation was the butterscotch story, I'd have to agree. Amusing, but disturbing.

Good times.
