Current generation as in the people in control of society or as in the young people pretending they like the people in control so that they can steal their positions when they get senile? This is an important difference. One should be kicked in the face while the other should be mercilessly given swirlies.

The kids. Like this girl I saw on TV. Like, 6, dancing to Britney Spears, wearing stupid ass clothes, and saying "I can't wait to be an adult!"

Oh so you mean their stupid parents that should have had an abortion? Last I checked 6 year olds don't go out and buy Britney Spears CDs with the money they made working at their local diner.

It isn't this generation; there are people like this in every generation, nothing will change it. Learn to accept it and deal with the masses or do what I do and stay away from common people when it can be helped.

Hah, it's great to see people mutter about "kid's today".

Don't worry, KP, you've got a bright future as a perpetually bitter, old curmudgeon yelling at the kids to get off your perfectly manicured lawn while you watch Days of Our Lives repeats.

It's true, teenagers are worthless.
We have two teenagers at work. Both the same age (to within a few days), both female.
One of them is quite bright, useful, and fairly sensible.
One of them is a ditzy, clueless bimbo.

Can't even generalise on the youth of today :/

I've certainly met people who are bigger holes than the Grand Canyon. I've met some really nice people too though. But, perhaps this will help contribute to the discussion: childhood is definitely getting shorter. People are :fluffle: and :sniper: and :upyours: and doing a lot of stuff they shouldn't be doing a lot younger than they should be in today's society. As much as I am for people being mature, this is not what I had in mind.

Oh, come off it. If the next generation refusing to conform to your values means that they're harming society, then society's been crumbling for ages. Roughly since the dawn of time. If people didn't try new things then we'd all still be running around grunting and trying to kill elk with stone tools. Yea, a lot of new ideas and fads are useless or even deleterious, but those ones are just aborted. That little girl you saw will end up either as some random groupie/druggie/whore, or she'll just move on. Just focus on your own life and contribute what you can to the world. Just remember: when the nuclear winter comes, we'll be the ones who survive to repopulate the earth. ;)

Pathetic.

Hey, guys, did you hear?

Eutrusca was bitten in half by a rabid hippo while he was trying to save a busload of Dutch tourists from going over a waterfall! (Eutrusca was trying to save them, not the hippo.)

There. Now thats an exaggerated rumor of Eutrusica's demise.

Am I part of the "old generation" already?
You become part of the 'old' generation as soon as you mutter those fateful words, 'kids these days...' and then make some bland sweeping generalisation about how the world is going to hell in a handbasket because of 'kids' inability to behave 'properly'.

When someone despairs of 'the youth today', I'm always reminded by a quote attributed to Socrates (470 - 399):
"Children today are tyrants. They contradict their parents, wolf their food, and tyrannize their teachers"

When I get old I'm going to spend all day on the roof just throwing beer cans at passers by. If I am put in a home, I will devote all my efforts to escaping and performing insane acts, like chopping down all the trees at a retirement home (i will avow eternal war on anything older than me) or stealing all the paper clips, etc. I will wear pancakes. Pretty much anything goes when all your peers are dead and nobody expects much from you. If I am bedridden I will arange the sheets so that it looks like I always have a boner. If I'm going to go out, I'm going to die laughing.

Name me a good one? And just for the record, how old are you?

*edit* I read about something in The Age, a reasonably well respected paper, about some weiner guy who married 3 people at the same time and had mistresses with all of them, and was busted with the aid of TT. Or something like that.

So thats one. Give me another?
