The previous VG thread had me thinking.....
What is your favorite Old School Video Game System
Speaking mostly of home consoles here or handheld.
My favorite system? The NES
http://www.vgmuseum.com/systems/nes/nes-1.jpg
Probably some of the best games ever came out for this system...
From Dragon Warrior to Ghosts and Goblins to the obvious Mario Bros games, too many to list in one post.
So well, what the hell do you guys think?
*poll coming*

Electronic Quarterback. You didn't really need to understand football - just had to keep hammering away at the buttons and eventually it'd play a long series of bleeps and bloops at you. All in glorious monochromatic red LEDs.
A classic if there ever was one.
Super Nintendo, duh!
I loved Chrono Trigger for SNES and the Samuri Shodown port. The Megaman X series was great.

How could you have forgotton the pure gaming pleasure that was Duck Hunt on the NES. Those little birds being mercilessly gunned down and then eaten by that ugly little dog. Oh the joy.
Shame on you to forget your roots

Obviously this mainly depends on which system you played back then. I played SNES, so I definately favor that system. Best game, Zelda A Link to the Past. Super Mario World comes 2nd.
I owned an N64 but I like the SNES through emulation though... I also have emulators for the Genesis and NES.

That is an improved version of Duck Hunt... I downloaded it from that site and I'm sure it's safe.

Easy, NES. it started the revolution of great games. Mario1 2 and 3, Zelda1 and 2, Metal Gear, all were from NES. then there is also ghost n goblins, double dragon, castlevania, ninja gaiden, tetris, mega man, all the greats were from NES.

Anyone out there remeber the Magnavox Odyssey2? Loved it. It played like an atari 2600 (similar games) and had a cheesy keyboard too. K.C. Munchkin was an absolute ripoff of Pacman. LOL

I find it difficult to compare different generations, but since you asked for OLD school I'm going for Intellivision. Way ahead of it's time in game quality and complexity.
For later generations it would be Nintendo all the way.
SNES. The NES was a little before my time.

love my Sega Genisis, infact, I still play my games for that system.
picked other because I also love my Super Famicom system. the Japanese version that is. It's one of the first (second I believe) systems to use CD technology as well as program cards. (got some nice Hentai games for it. unfortunatly, my roommate destroyed the controller and they don't make anymore. :( )

by using a special adapter, you can play the sega Genesis library of Games over your cable tv system. thus you can "Try" games out before buying them.
There was a monthly fee of course.
Super NES of course,
Chrono Trigger, EarthBound, Sim City 2000, Lufia, Harvest Moon, etc.
Good stuff.
I clicked Megadrive because I had one. But it is not the same as the Master System, it is another name for the Genesis. Maybe I should have clicked that.
