New Mexico Governor Has Dinner With Jessica Simpson
by Mitch Marconi
Feb 26, 2006

Jessica Simpson, who is currently filming her new movie in the state of New Mexico, was honored at a special dinner with the state's governor on Thursday night, reports People magazine.
Gov. Bill Richardson and his wife Barbara hosted Jessica and her parents, Joe and Tina, at the governor's mansion.

Jessica is currently on location shooting Employee of the Month in Santa Fe with costars Dane Cook, Dax Shepard and Efren Ramirez.

Jessica's dad Joe, who serves as one of the producers, said of his daughter's role: "This time she's not a sex kitten ... she's a cashier at Wal-Mart – it's a good change."

People reports that Jessica wore a lavender leather jacket and tight jeans to the dinner and was also joined by her costar, Dane Cook.

Yes, she knows how to flaunt her assets well, it would seem. She could be formidable.

And for further corroboration ...

Simpson hobnobs with politicians
Santa Fe, N.M. |

Jessica Simpson took a break from filming her latest movie to dine with Gov. Bill Richardson, his wife and others at the governor's mansion.
Simpson, who is in Santa Fe filming "Employee of the Month," ate with the governor Thursday night. The film is the fifth shot in New Mexico by Lions Gate Entertainment, an independent production and distribution studio.
"The governor feels very strongly about getting involved personally to promote New Mexico's film industry," Richardson spokesman Pahl Shipley said.
Richardson has rolled out the red carpet for other celebrities. Most recently, he dined at the mansion with Irish actor Liam Neeson.
Simpson was joined at the mansion by her parents, Lions Gate executives and members of the governor's staff.

Well, if Richardson is going to run for President in 2008, he's got to get the blessing of the Hollywood elite. (Cue Bill O'Reilly)

O'Reilly "elite"? Zoiks.
Did he ever take Kristof up on that offer to get lost?

EDIT:
Also, wouldn't Jessica's "contacts" be basically whatshisdoofus from Jackass, Willie Nelson, that Sean dude from The Rundown, Nick Lachey (don't call us for a referral), and her own sister?
High brow ...

Why is this article even on NSG? Nothing, I repeat, NOTHING (not even the scathing irony) could compensate for her lack of a brain. *shudder* *runs away from thread in fear*

In a world where Kermit the Frog can offer congressional testimony, the thought of a state governor dining with a media personality in order to promote his state's film industry hardly seems worth getting fussed about.

Though no doubt Kermit's after dinner conversation is considerably wittier and more insightful. Why, just last week, as we shared a bottle of Ardbeg 17 year old single malt whisky following dinner with Chirac, Blair, Wolfowitz and Putin, Mr. Frog noted - occasionally moving to fluent Russian and French as necessary - how Paul's big mistake was in using the end of the Cold War as a model to mistakenly assume that democracy is the default model to which societies move following the overthrow of a dictatorship (though I'm leaving out his jokes). Vlad tended to agree, using his own experiences in Chechnya as a model, though Kermie pointed out that Vlad's refusal to acknowledge Chechen suffering under Stalin while simultaneously using Paul and Dick's little adventure in Iraq as convenient cover for Russian military action in Grozny was rendering that conflict more problematic.

I tell you, Jessica's analysis isn't nearly as entertaining.

Needs more flies? (reminds me of the joke thread)
