I just started playing WoW very recently. I have a a bunch of characters. But i think im gonna stick with my lvl 15 Tauren shaman and my lvl 21 gnome mage. WoW is a very good game and I was wondering if any of you played it.

Oh yeah, I love it. Even though I kinda lost interest after about six months, I still play every now and then. Still very addictive.

I don't really mind the game, but I quit MMORPGs and the like a while ago.

WoW sucks because there is no real risk, no real loss, and it is all sharded into numerous servers, on many of which people can completely escape non-consensual PVP combat.

EVE pwns WoW because it has risk, loss, and everyone is on one server where if someone pwns you and you lose everything, tough shit.

Some people, you know, play it because it's fun. Working hard and dying because some ubergamer wanted to pwn you isn't very fun. Also, with everyone on one server, there must be some hella bad lag. Or just not a lot of people playing.

I've been out of it for a while due to computer problems, but hopefully I can grab some more RAM and get back to it by April. And if anyone's looking for trouble, its name is Jowbulla on the Silver Hand server.

EVE online was the dumbest game I ever played ever. After the best game ever created was shut down (Earth and Beyond). I tried EVE, and it was like a slap across the face. I laugh at you! hahahahahahaha!

I think the lag would be the same, but there's a lot of people who have many, many characters (self included) on each server. if some of them got canned, more people could join.

The real benefit will be that all the uber 60s who have nothing to do but gank lowbies will be preoccupied with a whole other continent now.

Don't play on a pvp server myself. That would be just TOO addictive. Too much stress also. Normal is enough for me.

I'm primarily on Rp and Rp-PVP myself. The makor problem on the latter is people who think it's "either-or" for roleplaying or pvping, when it's actually both.

I like the game alot, I used to play it all the time but my main character, a lvl 60 warlock, has a reached a point where I can't find much to do with him. I've done every instance dozens of times and don't feel like doing them anymore, I find PvP to repetitive, and raid instances are great (and the only when one I have alot of experience with is Molten Core) but I got kicked out of my guild for not playing for two weeks during finals last semester and I have too many other interests to devote several hours every week to being able to consistently be available to do raid instances (and thus I haven't joined a another guild). I could start another character, but I really don't feel like doing that. So with all of these factors together, despite loving the game I haven't played it in over a month and I doubt I'll start playing it again.

I haven't played it, but I think it messes to much with the plotline. It seems rediculous for the nightelves to join the alliance, and the horde may not even have known the forsaken existed. The bloodelves allying with the horde with Illidan alive is just insane. Azeroth was a universe made for an RTS.

If you ask me, the Undead won't be part of the Horde forever. Can't trust em.

Blood Elves is probably a point conceded in the name of balancing the factions by giving the horde a "pretty" race. which is a shame because the last thing the Horde needs is idiots dancing on mailboxes offering lapdances for gold.

The Forsaken are using as the Horde as a buffer. That's why they start neutral with all factions, they're not true Hordies. Oh, and the RFK-RFD questline has something about the Forsaken allying with the quilboars and taking over the Barrens, etc.

There's around 24,000 people playing EVE right now on one single server, and there is no lag. It's not as big as other MMOs because it's not a game for carebears who are scared to lose their gear. But commercial success =/= quality, as pop music shows. That's pretty much all WoW is, some Gaming Lite for casual gamers who don't want to get put into a situation where they might get pwned.

is being pwnt fun? Is losing a lot of hard work on a character fun? I think you're confusing with you like with what's best for most people, who prefer not starting from scratch on a character they enjoy playing. EVE may be fun for you, but by and large being cheesed out of your gameplay time is a BAD thing.

Actually, though I haven't played it myself, I've seen a friend play EVE (I'd like to play myself but I don't have time right now), and there are large parts of the galaxy that have bots that will protect you if you are attacked. Instead of grinding all the time, you start learning a skill and then come back in a few hours (i.e. you don't have to play all the time to get better). There's plenty of room to take risks, but I don't believe you are forced to.

Well, if the game keeps expanding like it is, more races will appear, and the Pandaren would certainly be among the possibilities. They had me at Trolls and Dwarves though.

It is certainly fun dishing out the pwnage. It's great when you've got a noob warpscrambled and target-jammed, and they just sit there immobilised and unable to fire while you rip them to shreds. :)

I never really put myself into the feet of a noob. Sure, I've lost ships in battle, but most of the time I had a fighting chance against equivalent opponents, and it was worth it. I guess EVE is just too hard core pro for people who just want to stamp on some furry creatures in a meadow with some friends.

Speaking of which, even NPCs have feelings just like us:

Protector bots seems interesting, and thanks for discussing it in milder tones. I don't know how I feel about just walking away from it while learning skills. I don't really understand the point of playing if you aren't going to be involved in that aspect of the game.

The skill levelling is time-based and not linked to gameplay. In that respect, EVE does not involve grind to "level up". However, you do need to play the game to accumulate money (the real loss thing) and actual piloting skill. A character with lots of skillpoints but little skill will get owned, and without time in game, be less able to replace assets.

That makes a little more sense, then. Still, I'm sticking to WoW, since I've been a Warcraft fan for a decade anyway (and adding more games is more expensive, of course).

The kids at the school I work on come late, lose sleep and "forget" their homework because of that game, or rather, because their parents can't be bothered to grab 'em by the hair and drag them to school.
In the end, it's hard to blame a game, but gaming addiction is a real problem nowdays. Just my two cents.

As long as the parents of the kids don't blame the game. It's depressing not only to see how poorly they manage their children, but to hear the bad name it gives people who play responsibly as well.

People like you, and many others, seem to be suffering from a misconception. When you start playing World of Warcraft it is not something that takes over and interferes with your life; rather you give up your old life with its all tedium of schoolwork and whatnot to embrace a new, superior life in the viritual world of Azeroth.
