With reference to the previous post on Irish British unification.

Well not the Northern Irish, that's for sure.

It simply would not be in line with our current understanding of democracy.

Well, I was gonna go with the last option, because that would be me, but instead I picked the whole of Ireland.

Allow me to play devil's advocate. What if their opionion differed from those of the majority of Northern Ireland?

Dude, dont be stupid.
Northern Ireland doesnt want to be Irish they were like "HOLY SHIT NO!!"
When the rebellions began.
Its cos they have been British a hell of a lot longer than they have been Christian-Irish.

Were we to unify with the Republic, they should certainly have a say since NI will have an effect on them. Bunreacht na hEireann, however, states at Article 2 (IIRC) that it wishes to have Irish unification (modified at the Good Friday Agreement from not acknowledging the partition at all). Thus, officially if nothing else, the Republic is willing to accept us (though any Southerners I've ever met are completely indifferent to the whole thing).

So, in short, it's really just the people of Northern Ireland that should make the decision as to whether or not to unify with the rest of Ireland.

"Duh!" as you put it. However there are people who are against keeping this status quo and would like to see things changed.

I favor self-determination, all other things being equal. :p

Nice to meet you. Thanks, you too :)

It's certainly good to see people taking an interest in the subject without the usual 'Irish-American' reaction...

Now come on, logically speaking quasi-evil pandas are perfectly suited to running the world. I present my proof:

1. Evil people are very good at running their country (Hitler, Lenin, and Mussolini all revitalised their countries economies).
2. The downside to this is the senseless killing that comes from having an evil leader.
3.The best midpoint between well-meaning stupidity and evil-efficiency is quasi-evilness (this has been determined by endless testing).
4. However, an evil person might pretend to be only quasi-evil in order to gain power before unleashing their evil qualities.
5. Pandas are noted for their complete lack of guile and so if you find a quasi-evil panda then you know that it really is a quasi-evil panda.
6. Therefore quasi-evil pandas should run the world and, consequently, the NI talks.

QED.
