Psycho Path Voted Wackiest Street Name

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Farfrompoopen Road, the only road to Constipation Ridge, lost to Divorce Court and Psycho Path, which placed No. 1 in an online poll of the nation's wildest, weirdest and wackiest street names.

Mitsubishi Motors sponsored the poll on the Web site http://www.TheCarConnection.com and more than 2,500 voters cast their ballots during a week of voting that ended this month. Winners were announced Friday.

"Our readers really stepped up with some insane street names," said Web site publisher Paul Eisenstein. "Our panel had a difficult time narrowing several hundred down to the 10 our readers voted on.

"But we learned a lot about the byways of this country, not to mention the collective sense of humor of city planners everywhere."

In first place was Psycho Path in Traverse City, Mich., followed by Heather Highlands, Pa.'s, Divorce Court in second and Tennessee's Farfrompoopen Road in third. Eisenstein said all the roads were verified, although some are private and hard to find.

The complete top 10 list included:

10. Tater Peeler Road in Lebanon, Texas

9. The intersection of Count and Basie in Richmond, Va.

8. Shades of Death Road in Warren County, N.J.

7. Unexpected Road in Buena, N.J.

6. Bucket of Blood Street in Holbrook, Ariz.

5. The intersection of Clinton and Fidelity in Houston

4. The intersection of Lonesome and Hardup in Albany, Ga.

3. Farfrompoopen Road in Tennessee (the only road up to Constipation Ridge)

2. Divorce Court in Heather Highlands, Pa.

1. Psycho Path in Traverse City, Mich.

Every time theres a strange something or other in the news Pennsylvania or Georgia always makes the list. I wonder why that is?

They put this one in before Roe Vs. Wade.

6. Bucket of Blood Street in Holbrook, Ariz.

Right next to Tombstone Ariz.! I'm sure theres no coniky-dink. Also, they do give away free bucket of blood at every saloon! Fun times to be had by all!

5. The intersection of Clinton and Fidelity in Houston

Ahh if only this was in Little Rock Ark. I could make such a big joke about this. I swear this has got to be an inside joke.

4. The intersection of Lonesome and Hardup in Albany, Ga.

The guy who created this intersection thought there would be alot of porn shops in the area.

I'm rather fond of 'Dog Leap Stairs' in Newcastle, England. Makes you wonder whether some places are just named to get a cheap laugh. (although a dog did apparently leap down said stairs)

they could have been named in a drunken dare. Because alcohol can have that effect.

i used to live not far from the towns of you bet, red dog and cammel's hump, listed in that order on the turnoff sign. this is in california's mother load gold country in the sierra's (sometimes refered to these days as the sireal nervana's). there's lots of little towns up here with names like rough and ready, and hambone. these are actual towns with post offices.

not realy gigantic real big towns mind you, but real towns nontheless, that have had these names since their inception during the gold rush of the 1850's.

some of course have more conventional sounding names, like yankee jim's, which was named after a convicted murderer.

we have our penn valley and olinghouse, brownsville and dobbins, north san juan and north colombia, malacoff diggins, dutch flat, god run, blue cannion, emigrant gap, kingvale, cisco, yuba gap, soda springs, norden, truckee.

there's even a place called cool. which isn't entirely. and a weed hights that doesn't like people who smoke it. we have a grey eagle and a clio. a woodfords and a chester. a quincy and a portola. and of course grass valley, although the mellower people live in neighboring nevada city and up on the san juan ridge, goin' out toward malachoff diggins. ananda is out that way too, or was last i checked.

town i grew up in was named after shyler colfax, ulissis grant's corrupt secretary of the treasury i think he was. there's a shady glenn near there.

i graduated from auburn and between auburn and colfax there a wiemar (that had origionaly been a tiburculosis hospital, and localy pronounced wee-mar rather then vy-mar), along with an applegate, clipper gap, medow vista and eden valley. down by where i live now there's a rocklin and a penryn. the city of roseville where i live was origeonaly named junction. named either for the wild rossess along the creek, possibly, or a lady named rose who used to meet the trains in the early days when they first started running.
