See how much of a caring guy he is? (http://www.billoreilly.com/petitions/viewpetition?petitionID=571931160096981981)

Looking at the ratings, he is terribly worried that something needs to be done at MSNBC in order to make them more competitive. Specifically in the 8:00p.m. time slot.

Chairman Robert Wright
National Broadcasting Company
30 Rockefeller Plaza
New York, New York 10112

Dear Chairman Wright:

We, the undersigned, are becoming increasingly concerned about the well-being of MSNBC and, in particular, note the continuing ratings failure of the program currently airing weeknights on that network at 8:00 PM EST.

It is now apparent to everyone that a grave injustice has been done to the previous host for that time slot, Phil Donahue, whose ratings, at the time of his show's cancellation three years ago, were demonstrably stronger than those of the current host.

Therefore, in an effort to rescue MSNBC from the ratings basement and to restore the honor and dignity of Mr. Donahue, who was ignobly removed as host three years ago, we ask that you immediately bring Phil Donahue's show back at 8:00 PM EST before any more damage is done.

Oddly enough, that just HAPPENS to be Keith Olbermann's time slot.... you know, the guy who keeps giving Bill his "Worst Person in the World" award? But I'm sure that's just a coinky-dink..... right?

Of course, what would be just f*cking hilarious would be if Fox would fire him for working against corporate interests by attempting to help out their competition....

I heard Olbermann talking about this on ESPN radio this afternoon. It's interesting, because Olbermann has more viewers than Donahue did and O'Reilly was one of those "if you're against the war, you're an America-hater people" and Donahue was certainly opposed to the war.

Olbermann was funny about it though. He said that if MSNBC cancelled him to bring back Donahue, he's still got a year left on his contract, so he gets paid to stay home, which ain't a bad deal. He did it for Fox, after all.

O'Reilly is a living fable, like the tortoise and the hare. He thinks about something for say, five minutes and goes off to the races with it, laughing at the people with other strategies because he got the first licks in. Then he gets to button his lip when the guy who thought for fifteen minutes (or in O'Reilly's case, AT ALL) comes out with a retort which outdoes the original slur or a comment which makes Bill look childish. the best part is that he doesn't learn from it, ever.

A brilliant book, and short. I highly recommend it.
