Dane Cook. He's like a young Lewis Black, which completely makes my day.
Demetri Martin to the max. That guy is great, I got to see him up here in Chicago a few weeks ago and I threw him some roses after the show.

Um...this poll sucks. Every name I would consider isn't on the list. Half those on the list I have never even heard of. Where's Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, George Carlin, Andrew Dice Clay, Rodney Dangerfield, Kathy Griffin, Jenneane Garaffalo, and my #1 choice Richard Prior?

I don't know about the others, but the Dice man is frantically paging through books of nursery rhymes looking for ones he hasn't used yet so he can re-start his career.

I wouldn't consider Ali G as a stand-up comedian, more as a "very bad, dumbed down retread of all Chris Morris less amusing media terrorist moments from Brasseye, with distinctly dodgy racial undertones".

The latter bit of the comment has a small inkling of truth about it. But Jimmy Carr is a nasty sexist racist shit. I don't care whether it's done ironically or not, he's a twat. End of.
And not a very funny one either. At least Bernard Manning has timing, and will die soon.

Yeah, funny that he picks on minorities to be "ironically" "amusing" about, eh? Never seen him tell one of his oh so amusing "ironic" jokes about, say, large muscly blokes with little sense of humour.
Another sign - along with Little Britain - that the 90s lad culture nastied up British culture. I blame Loaded.

Yeah, i saw his last tour and it was quite a tired retread i thought.
His new Christopher Walken impression (debuted in the encore) was good though.
Demetri Martin is freakin amazing. Lewis Black, Zach Galifinakax, Jim Gaffigan. This is basically my personal favorites from Comedy Central standup.
Craig Ferguson from the Late Late Show is also great. Don't know if he does standup outside of his 10 minute monolouges at the beginning of his shows though.

Bill Hicks and Bill Bailey. I really enjoy Lee Evans and Al Murray also, but I find that Al Murray, whilst funny the first time, doesn't re-view so well. and in my opinion, he uses too many of the same jokes every time. It's a performance style, but it wears on me. "after all, where'd we be without rules?! France!" ad infinitum.

Andy Kaufman
Robin Williams
Phyllis Diller
Bob Hope
Jonathon Winters

I know. Aparently, only people from the UK are funny.
Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle. Their one our specials are hilarious.
I really like the story Dave tells about the toddler he say standing on a street corner at midnight.
John Cleese and the people who write the simpsons ... and the rest of monty python.

Craig Ferguson used to standup in the 80s, back in the UK, both under his own name and the stage name "Bing Hitler". Used to have a couple of his live albums. Good in a shouty confrontational kinda way.
