Seriously though, I am fairly sure that if you were up last night carrying this out http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/kent/4742064.stm then you wouldnt be on here this morning, but it raises a question, well two maybe...IF it was you, WHAT would you do with all that money (I just heard that it was nearer £40 million) and secondly, IF you knew it was me that did it, how much do you want to keep quiet?

Only 25 mil has been confirmed stolen according to the beeb... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/kent/4742064.stm

A massive police search is continuing for the armed gang who stole at least £25m from a security depot in Kent.

They are trying to establish the accuracy of claims that as much as £40m could have been stolen.

And if I had 40million, I'd buy a bugatti veyron. The rest would probably go on insurance for it lol.

If it was me, I'd first have to convert it to US funds. Then, I'm not sure what I'd do (can't go crazy with the money, as that'd be a dead giveaway it was me). How much would I want, to keep quiet? I'd have to say about $10,000. Not enough to kill me over, but enough for me to pay off my truck. :)

From whats been reported, this was well planned and very well executed.
The fact that they were armed and the stakes were so high and no one was shot or injured speaks volumes as to the professionals involved.
There was speculation that they may be caught when trying to spend it, but I have to imagine they already have a solid plan for that as well.

I'm waiting for the movie on this story.

Biggest ever robbery...http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/kent/4742064.stm
I like it the way BBC allows citizens to post on the same page..
I hope CNN/NBC/FOX/etc are taking notes..

The Internet shall democratize the flow of information/opinion.

"As a Tonbridge resident I walk past the Securitas Depot fairly often and I can tell you it is a fortress. I know people who work there and gaining entry, even for them, is a painstakingly laborious task. I struggle to see how the manager would have been able provide an entry point for the criminals, gun-point or not. Also the depot holds a lot more than £40 million, why did they only take that amount and (more importantly) did they know that certain cash was 'safer' to take than some of the other bundles?"

Ocean's 14?

Sure-if they dont even catch anyone involved, someone can piece together a thrilling story based on facts, evidence and testimony from the witnesses that were tied up and left at the scene.

People love these stories- Ocean's 11 & 12, The Italian Job, etc... They're always interesting. It could start with the planning, maybe work a female thief in as a love story sideline, the heist itself and then how the money was spent, someone was caught or betrayed and killed for his share or to keep him quiet. There are many possibilities.

And "based on actual events" would certainly boost interest.

I'd watch.

Nobody has said WHAT they would spend it on...well apart from the car..

I would go on a LONG LONG holiday, buy a private Island, a house in London, Paris, New York, Toronto and some other places....get nice stuff.....eat chocolate....get liposuction....eat more chocolate.....get more liposuction....

I would be pampered and fauned over an' just live life in utter luxury and decadence.....whilst of course fearing the knock on the door.....oh the horror!

And then after you've spent $200,000 on yurts to assuage your concious, you could get to the real business of meaningless self-indulgence.
That is the sort of money that you retire on, you'll never pull something like that off twice, and simply doing it once should provide you with enough material to get laid anywhere you go for the rest of your life.

why do you need money for that? are you unattractive to the opposite sex unless you pay them or something? No getting sex doesn't involve money, honest...I dont have any money but I have sex all the time

I could help you on that. The first step is purchasing a Filly (Filipino child, aged 6-10) and having him carry your stuff and do all your work for you. In the 5 seconds of extra free time that you have gained from not having to make your own instant oat-meal, you can begin studying some deSade, he had a lot of tips on proper sexual decadence.
Oh, and you'll have to take up smoking (only the very best cigars) and remember to always light the cigar with a $100 bill.
