Miracle on Ice

I just saw the original movie "Miracle on Ice" on TV. The movie is about the 1980 US Olympic Hockey team. This movie is better than the 2004 incarnation. They show the real video of the games. Does anyone else get goosebumps when Al Michaels makes his famous call? "Five seconds left in the game. Do you believe in miracles? YES!" That call still gets me every time I hear it.

Too bad this year's team performed so poorly.

Oh, quick trivia. Sergei Fetisov, a member of the 1980 Russian team, later came to America and played in the NHL for the Detroit Red Wings. He is one of my favorite players on that team. He was crucial in the 1997 championship.

eh...I didn't really like the TV movie so much, mostly because you never get to see it in theaters. but it was about hockey, so I can't complain.

I do have a copy of the game on DVD.

The movie was okay. I own a copy of the actual game, and that ius MUCH more thrilling to watch. I still get shivers everytime I hear Al Michaels call at the end of the game.

Who else loves the old style goalie mask worn by Jim Craig. He looks like Jason.

Bah! "Some people are on the pitch - they think it's all over - it is now" was far better. And earlier. And about England versus Germany. (For those of you not into real football, it was at the end of the 1966 World Cup final, where spectators started a pitch invasion with seconds left in the game, and then England scored.)

the king of the mask has to be Cheevers. He played before they were required, so drew a scar on it every time he got hit.
