Ok I am not am not talking about countrys or main stream brands but what is your favourite whiskey.
For me it would either be 25 year old Midleton(irish) or 22 year old Glendronach.I have tasted hundreds of different types but these IMHO rock

Black Bush is ok, the regular Bushmill's is not one of my favourites.
Powers 12 year old is something I only ever found in one place in Dublin, and it doesn't get exported either. Great stuff, no comparison to the 10 year old regular stuff.

It's certainly debateable which Whisky is the best... since I don't have the economy to bash out a hundred buck or more per bottle and have to stick with the sub-sixty ones, I'd have to say my favorite is Glenmorangie, sure, it's irish, I prefer the smoothness compared to the rougher scottish malts.
I'd say its subjective and up for debate, but Chivas and lower grade Walker is better as paint solvant than for drinking;)

Try Black Bush. Bushmills itself isn't really the best. If you want one of the best whiskeys in Ireland, though, and affordable, try Jamesons

The basic stuff is nice and smooth but wait till you try the vintage.9 or 12 year old is outstanding.Tullamore Dew 9 or twelve is also a great place to start with irish whiskey. If you want prefection try Midletom 25 years but expect to pay about €300 in ireland and about $600 the states a bottle.

Ack! I hate this question.

Inevitably it pits the the Tennessee drinkers against the Bourbon drinkers, the the Irish drinkers against the Scotch drinkers, the Rye drinkers against everyone, the whole thing turns into a giant pissing contest.

On top of that, theres the huge problem if diminishing returns. A $20 bottle is better than a $10 dollar bottle by a much larger margin than a $100 bottle is better than a $20 dollar bottle.

That said, when when you balance cost and quality, I'll have to go with Gentleman's Jack.

There are quite a few great American whiskeys but nearly all of them are bourbons and most of them are local. I've got a great bottle of Rock Hill Farms, its a single barrel 10 year Kentucky Straight Burbon at around 100 proof. Theres also Basil Hayden's and Booker's Reserve. Eagle Rare makes a good 10 year but their 17 year is overpriced. Theres an astounding number of small old distillers in this country that make good bourbon at reasonable prices, but I'd stay away from anything coming from America that wasn't rye, burbon, or tennessee.

I personally like The Glenlivet and Jack Daniel's (yep -- a single-malt Scotch and a sour mash)

...but i wanted to represent for my country (and adopted region). hehe

and everyone's heard of JAck Daniel's, so I figured I'd give bourbon (and Maker's Mark) some pub. I know people who swear by that brand and that type.

Are we talking about best I've had or best I cann afford? :D

Last year, when I was drinking on Stanford's dime (for that one glorious night) I was knocking back doubles of Macallan 25 Single malt. That was gorgeous, beyond description.

For Christmas last year, I got a bottle of Bushmill's Single Malt, the 12 year, and that's really fucking good. That's about my maximum price range, and only at home. I can't afford that when I'm out.
