Ok I need some advice here on whether I should spend my money on going to see a doctor here. Ok so my family has a history of heart problems on both sides, with liek 75-80% dying of heart related complications, ie heart attack...Ok well lately I have noticed my Blood pressure is slightly up..like the other day it was 151/66(i think)...well i know that the 151 is a high number, like stage 1 hypertension. Ok well in the past year or so, i have gained a few extra pounds..no more than 10-15...also in the past year about 4 or 5 times, i have had fainting spells, one of which i had severe pains in my chest and left arm(i thought i was having a heart attack)..But these spells have me at first getting nastious(sp?), light headed (sometimes with double vision), then i get like a fever, but my pulse drops because the rest of my body get clamy, all sweaty, but cold. Also i turn really pale..I am a natural tan color..but i get real white, then ill black out for a few seconds and about 15-20 mins later I'll be all fine again, like nothing happened.. Shoud I be worried about anything? Do i need to go see the DOC? Please help!!!

Yeah Thomas, get yourself to the Dr. Your bloodpressure wasnt substantially high, considering the bottom number (diastolic)is generally the most important of the two. But your other symptoms sound like they warrant a visit to the doctor. Immediately. Are you eating properly?

Edit: 155 is high for systolic, but 66 (diastolic) isnt bad. Maybe you should have it checked again for accuracy. Again, go to the doc.

GO TO THE DOCTOR.

Cardiac symptoms when you have heart disease on EITHER side of the family, never mind both, is nothing to mess with.

How overweight are you?

Oh, and go to the doctor.

(No one on NS can diagnose anything over the internet, so it's a waste of time asking. I can't figure out why people post here asking that. They already know the answer.)

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Any time you feel strongly enough that there's a problem that you ask someone whether you should see a doctor. The answer is ALWAYS yes. Always. You are the best person to decide whether you need to see a doctor and if you feel that you maybe should, then do it. espescially with heart related problems.

For credentials, I am a physician (general practitioner I think it is in english), have been working for some time in cardiavascular surgery and am now head of department of a rehabilitation facility in northern germany. Though all you describe sounds pretty harmless you should get a check-up at your doctor...I donĀ“t know how old you are but with your family history this is really the best option...also at least once you a year you should repeat it.

btw, over 50% of all causes of death are of cardiovascular causes, exactly how old were your relatives at their time of death?

I should be worried that you're asking a bunch of crackpots on the net whom you've never met for indpeth medical advice.
After visiting a doctor, go see a head shrink, man. Good God, who knows what sort of foolishness you'll be told. Lucky I'm here to offer good quality advice.

imo, you're suffering from hypertension. The best way to relieve high blood pressure is to open a vein a little and allow the pressure to decrease.
It works for my bike tires.

You need more salt in your diet, I would also strongly recommend eating a high fat high sugar diet, McDonalds or KFC would be ideal. Smoke, but only when drinking alcohol, which you should do a lot.

Under no circumstances take any exercise, this just increases heart rate which can only increase blood pressure.

Any form of homeopathic remedy should be warmly embraced, as should the wearing of crystals and copper bracelets.

I hope this helps.
