I don't know if your cat can match the somewhat coked-up speed of squeaky mouse (we dont let her out the house to play anymore, except to go in her excercise ball)

I think they're pretty cute. But I've always had bad luck with rodents as pets (hamsters quake with fear ever time I visit the pet store), so I stick with dogs.

You rock the casbah, and I agree with you 100%. I have two pet rats, and I love them to death. Poor rats get all the bad rep, but they make awesome pets! Mine just went on an excursion in the department store with me yesterday :D

So far, they are trained to stand up, come when I call them, and play in a boat in the bathtub, and we're working on litter training.

I had an albino rat and he was sooo cute with his little pink eyes.

he was smart too... he would play fetch with me. I used to leave his cage open at night and I would always find him sleepign next to me in the morning. it scared me because I was worried I would roll over and crush him.

I wouldnt do this now, but as a stoner teenager I would blow my pot smoke at him and he would get the munchies, eat all his food and pass out for a while.

I also used to bring him everywhere I went... he would sit on my shoulder and when he got tired he would crawl down into my coat pocket and sleep.

His name was Grim and I miss him

I've got no problems with mice. It's ferrets I can't stand. They're like furry snakes with legs. I don't mind snakes, so long as they're not furry with legs.

Cute!

I like all rodents. The only thing I don't like so much about rats is their nekkid tail. But eh, minor flaw. When I volunteered at an animal shelter, we had a really cute white rat there - I was the only one he didn't pee on .

I love mice! I think they are so wonderfully cute and interesting. The name of my country on here, Moustopia, was supposed to be Mouse Topia or Mousetopia but it was taken. I live mice, that is also why I have been nicknamed in real life 'Mouse'. But before anyone gets any ideas I am not obsessed, I just like them and actually don't think about them very much when I don't have a mouse.

Meh. I have worked in a lab where we had to decapitate rodents on a daily basis, and ever since I have found myself unable to hang out around mice or rats. Not because I think they're gross or anything, but because I'm reasonably sure they're plotting to kill me.

It is, in a way. Now I work in a lab that uses chicken embryos. I believe in the work I am doing, and I believe it is work the cost, but it still is kind of lousy to have to kill things. I prefer not to kill things, generally speaking.

Hedgehogs are the SHIZZLE. I had one for several years, and he was awesome...when our apartment building had a pest problem, we'd just let him out to roam along the corridors and he would eat all the bugs he could find. We had a very fat and very very happy hog.

I'm indifferent to rodents as pets. I know many people keep rats/mice as pets-they must be getting something out of it. I dont care for them and I know my wife would be physically afraid of them.

I am aware almost immediately upon entering a house that has them as pets- or pests- as they have a distinct odor. Its either them or their nesting/bedding I smell. This also includes hamsters, gerbils, rabbits-even lizards. cats and dogs go without saying.

On the subject-I dont tolerate squirrels at all. They are a major problem in my neigborhood-between chewing through garbage cans, phone & electrical lines/junction as well as getting into attics.

As of right now, I dont think they even travel through my yard anymore.

Mice are ok, but personally I refuse to keep any pet that has to be caged. If they don't want to live with me of their own accord, they're not really a good pet. Plus, my cats would love to get a hold of them, I'm sure... but they're still somewhat kittens, and I'm not sure they'd know what to do with them when they were done playing.

My brother in law has a sugar glider - they're really cute. But they're expensive, and somewhat tempramental. They had two, but one of them died. Seems like a really bad investment to me.

My position on animals is thus:-

Nice things, hope they do well, blah blah blah. But unless one composes a symphony, finds a cure for cancer or writes a Shakespearean stylee sonnet, i really couldn't give two shits about them.

Brutal, i know. Doesn't mean we should mistreat them or be necessarily evil, however, if the choice is starvation, lentils or mouse...then the answer is most definitely "stew".
