2. I've never noticed myself ever giving the church much of anything out of a feeling of compulsion while I was a Christian, and because I rarely actually physically go to church as it is, there's not many people to "sowl" at me.

anyways all i ment was that religion is a method of control over people. If your truly religious and say your "leader" (pope, sha, whatever) tells you that god wouldent like this or that for whatever reason, 9 times outta 10 you would stay away from it. Well at least the easly led people would..
Religion is neither good nor bad...it all depends on your subjective view.
Whether or not you believe in an Almighty, some people's quest to find answers sometimes leads them to a spiritual path, and live their lives based on morals and codes based on their religion's sacred text. A good example of this is Martin Luther King Jr., or Mahatma Ghandhi, or the Dalai Lama. In my humble opinion, anyone who uses religion to further compassion and peace to all mankind is a good thing.
Televangelists, bad thing. Again, my opinion. Using religion for financial gain is kinda missing the point. Fundamentalists, bad thing. Taking extreme views and not willing to change or adapt is not condusive to anything....Scientology, well, that's just weird to me...
