What is so special about Ville Valo, on another forum their Praising him as God, on urbandictionary he get's 13 pages of sheer positiveness while really all he does is write cliché lyrics, defines a genre as he pleases and sings in mediocre vocal techniques.
He's not that sexy I'd say, I can't stand tatoo's anyway.

Yea he's finnish. My ex was obsessed about him, even tough he very clearly looks like a woman in some photos. Also, HIM is kinda dull.

But people can listen to the kind music they want to listen to - unfortunately - even though it is crap. And yep - they're Finnish, and from what I've heard they are very popular in Finland.

HIM, like all heavy bands are not mainstream. HIM are as close to mainstream as a metal group can come, and they are very popular in certai groups. If they were not popular how would they sell out venues? The appeal of HIM, for me at least, is the soppy loves songs that they write combined with the awsome guitar riffs! Yes they are Finnish, Valo's dad owns a sex shop in his home town. as far as Valo being attractive goes, it depends what picture you're looking at and when it's from. He was INCREDIBLY femenine in thefirst couple of albums but some pics of him show him to be very pretty. Just search Google. He's similar to Slash in that he is very pretty in certain lights but not at all in others.
