There once was a dream......
So, in another attempt to battle boredom, the dream thread was created. Any truly disturbing dreams to speak of?? Thought this could be interesting..

2 strange, yet unrelated parts of last nights dream (what I can remember) In the dream I was at the store (supermarket) and this quite attractive girl that works with me was there, yet I couldnt even waive hello much less speak to her, as I was in quite a hurry, and was seemingly only wearing a bath towel. The two weren't related at all, just parts of a larger much weirder dream, but thought this may get the thread started.

I dreamt I was out in the country with the mates. After some blurry bits, which I think involved drugs, it turned into a morbidly fascinating nightmare where my friends started attacking & eating farm animals...

Let's see....
Once I had a dream about the whole world turning into vampires and I became like the 'omega man'.
I had a weird dream last night where I was being chased by the mob and the only place I could hide was in a pizza shop. They eventually found me, but the Terminator came and saved me.
Those are just a few that came to mind

I had a dream..hell was really boring.
Being awake is far more disturbing than dreams.
I had a dream I was at some kind of show with Seseme Street characters on stage and they suddenly grew all shadowy with fangs and jumped off the stage and rushed me. I always knew Big Bird was evil!

A few nights ago, I dreamed that I was following myself through a maze. It was sort of disturbing, especially when the clone me reached the end of the maze, picked up a cleaver, and very clamly started whacking himself to peices with it.

well for hte past week and a half (every night i might add) i've been having this strange dream that my best friends older bro highers me to work there. Then in last night's dream for some reason I couldn't keep my eyes open in the dream they would always close no matter how hard I tried to keep them open...it's wierd.
Then it seems whenever I have a dream where I get into a fight my punches always are really slow like I'm punching thru water or something and tend to be ineffective....

I think that is pretty common, I am quite sure I have the same problem in dreams. However, I always seem to find a way to win the "battle that be" in the dream.

Not that I know anything about dreams, psychology, etc. nor do I pretend to... However, I thought I read or heard somewhere that usually when people are trying to run, punch, kick, etc in dreams they are actually moving their body in real life, and the bed is slowing them down so much that that transfers to their dream.... but I could be wrong..

On 5/11/05 i woke at 9.10am after having this dream:
Me and my brother were on our old farm when i saw an object in the sky, at first i thought it was a microlight but then i saw it was moving too fast, so fast in fact that it couldnt be seen when moving in a straight line, only when turning.
The ship crashed outside one of the barns and i spoke to the pilot who looked human as far as i can remember.
For some reason he ended up having the name Serge, im pretty sure he didnt have a name so he chose one.
We talked about stuff and he said he came from a greenish blue planet, he had an ID card which he didnt want photocopied and he told me that the photo i took wouldn't come out well.
He was very friendly, as if he had visited many planets before or visited Earth many times, he seemed used to people coming out to see him and asking him questions.
He also had some information on a human doctor, possibly a doctor of science; perhaps he wanted to take this man back with him.
I drew what i could remember of the ship but it doesnt look very good; just short wings, a horizontal egg-shaped hoop fuselage, with vertical thrusters (?) at the fore and aft inner edge of the hoop.
I haven't had a similar dream since.

That could make sense, I've woke up plenty of times where I was running or kicking (Or one time where i woke up cause i punched my wall) and in the part of the dream I woke up at i was doing the same hting.

I don't normally remember any of my dreams anymore (although I used to when I was a kid), but I know on at least one occassion I have rolled over and accidentally elbowed my wife in the side, or even the shoulder, and startled both of us.... not sure if dream related or not, but very likely was...

I dreamed I was in Subway, ordering a sandwich and everytime I ordered something from the menu, the girl would look at me and say "we dont have that anymore", and I'd look up at the menu and the choice had disappeared. Also there were pictures of missing people all over the walls. I could only see the text description ....the faces were just a blur. All of them.

Most of mine are just somewhat irritating, although I occasionally have a recurring one involving my family mixed in with events from Vietnam. That one is deeply disturbing and either wakes me up or ( if I can manage ) turns into a ludic dream that I can change at will.

I can never make out any details of a picture in dreams - what I "see" is determined by what I think I'm looking at, not vice versa.
Does anyone have any strange abilities, powers, etc. in their dreams recurring, such as the ability to fly, or a superman strength or anything?? Those could be interesting as well.

I was a pretty good rifleman when I was in the Army. In my dreams I never miss! I don't know if that's a "strange ability or power," but it sure would have been handy in Vietnam. :D

Slightly offtopic, but it came to mind..... I read that there are a couple Marine Snipers that have done trips in Iraq and Afghanistan that are starting to quickly approach some of the sniper records from Vietnam era veterans.

I've got a really depressing and weird dream for you right here. But... it kinda needs some explaining.
Does anyone ever dream that they had a dream before, but didn't have? Like, for example, you dream in Dream B that you had Dream A, but in fact you never had Dream A. It is fun when Dream B is a "continuation" of Dream A.
I've had those: does this make me insane?
And if the answer to that is no, try this dream:
So, 'earlier' in the dream I had fallen backwards by accident and crushed this little kid named Gabriel. The reason I remember his name is that Gabriel had a brother, and whenever his brother would see me, he would point at me and state "You killed Gabriel," flatly and without malice. This had been going on for about 'one week' or so.
Anyways, I was walking across this large parking lot, and it was completely empty save for a tan Jeep Grand Cherokee with its trunk open. I saw several coolers inside the back, as well as Gabriel's brother. Just as I had begun to hope he wouldn't see me, he pointed and said "You killed Gabriel."
It was at that point in the dream that I resolved to kill myself.
Luckily, I woke up because lightning struck.
Weird, huh? I have to admit, I am cutting out a lot of the details, like the riot I was walking away from, the specifics about the parking lot and whatnot.
Does anyone else remember a lot about their dreams?

It was when I was young; five or six at least. I was staying over at a friends house. We had been playing with Lego all day, making spaceships and the like. Well my dream was of this plastic nature. I myself was a modular spaceman; having the ability to change arms and legs and heads at will. Unknown to my lego mind, this adaptability would become my undoing. We were late, my brick building comrads and I. Our mission had taken longer than expected; we couldn't find the right piece in our bucket to complete the orbiting LegoLab4. When we touched down I was informed to see the head brick immediatly. Not wanting to cause anymore grief than what I had already done I rushed off towards the head bricks office. Realising it would not look good on my record to enter with my space suit on I decided to take it off as I ran. This is where things got interesting. As my suit consisted of just a helmet I began to pull it off. Except it wouldn't come off. I pulled harder and harder but it stayed on. I was getting closer to the head bricks office. Not wnating to look like a fool I pulled with all my might. I burst through the doors to the head bricks office. I went flying one way, my helmet with my head still inside went the other.
I had to add some quick creative writing in that one seeing as it took place a long time ago and details were kinda sketchy.
I'm notoriously known was the one person in my family who talks in his sleep. This got me into trouble a few years ago. I must have been about twelve or thirteen at the time.
This one dream I had started out with me trying to get to sleep. My younger brother came into my room and started causing trouble, so I yelled at him to get out. He realised he was pushing my buttons so he stayed, trying to be as annoying as possible. He finally went over the top running around jumping on my desk, then onto my dresser, hanging from my light, etc.... until I screamed,"STOP FUCKING AROUND!!!", at the top of my lungs. My parents then came into the room and woke me up asking what the hell was going on.
very interesting in deed... I used to remember much more when I was a kid, but for some reason dreams as of late either bare no importance or nothing stimulating enough to remember..
I always have weird dreams, I wish I could have a nice normal dream for a change of pace, but it never seems to happen.
Weirdest dream was I dempt I was back at my university and a part of one of the clubs I was in again. We were going to do an event for the university up at Lake Tahoe. However, it wasn't actually my club because we were in real life a secret goverment agency who had intelligence that Osama Bin Laden was hiding out up in the video arcade at Ceasar's Palace, Lake Tahoe and it was our job to go up there and hunt him down. In order to make it easy to find him, everyone was to wear the same blue shirt, and if anyone wasn't in a blue shirt, we were to shoot him.
However, Osama somehow learned of the plan and got his own blue shirt and started to mastermind a terrorist plot invloving Little Ceasar's Pizzas, which he had rigged to explode.
I never did catch him, I got distracted playing Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball at the arcade when looking for him.

I have vivid dreams almost every night and sometimes I continually wake up throughout the night everytime the dream changes "scenes." My dreams are almost always strange. As far as superpowers go, I often have precognition of sorts in my dreams; for example: as a scene begins I might have in my mind a general outline of what will happen in the dream which is then fleshed out as I go through the dream; other times when something happens I'll immediately know all of the ramifications of it and what will come of it days later in my "dreamworld."
Most of my dreams are not easily explained; but for one that is and is disturbing, I had a dream several months ago that I was down in the basement of a friend, K, with my other friends and we are all smoking weed (which is what we always do). Then I walk up to this partially dug hole in the basement floor (the partially dug hole actually exists), grab a shovel and starting digging it (with the help of others) until after digging a while the hole opens up into a tunnel. Most of my friends are too afraid to go in it; but myself on other decide to follow it and in doing so come across some creatures that are somewhat human, but have gray rubbery flesh, clawed hands, walk with a pronounced hunch, and have inhuman faces characterized by yellow eyes and a "snout" of sorts (they were clearly inspired by Lovecraft's story "Pickman's Model"). There is some kind of interaction that I can't recall then I woke up. I fell back to sleep minutes later, into a continuation of the dream (as often happens for me) and I'm in some chamber that seems to be a continuation of the tunnel and there more of these creatures around gibbering to each other and standing at the front of the chamber is what appears to be a leader of sorts; who stands upright, wears a purple robe, and a silver mask that looks like a skull. He barks and gibbers somethings I don't understand; some more of these creatures come out from side tunnels carrying partially decayed corpses that they dump on the floor. All of the creatures begin to dig into the corpses and eat them; and I join in. After this I woke up.
Has anyone noticed any alterations in their dreams when they go to sleep on drugs? If so, be specific of drug and type of alteration. I've only noticed that I have trouble remembering my dreams when I go to sleep on weed; and when I go to sleep on hashish my dreams are very strange and somewhat incoherent.

I had a pretty funny dream a few weeks ago. I had climbed up to a landing that looked like an attic. This guy I know stood up there next to Odysseus (from The Odyssey by Homer), a tall man with grayish skin. Two fat gills protruded from the middle of his neck. I wanted Odysseus to predict my future, but to my dismay, he couldn't. However, he told me, his kids would be able to. He added that he was pregnant with 28 of the other guy's children! They were both clearly disappointed with the meager number of offspring they would have. :)

I used to live in a sort of a commune in Brooklyn, in a big old victorian house. Everyone who lived there at one point or another had this same dream, although no one talked about it until someone said "I had this dream..." so we knew that it wasn't something that had been 'suggested' to them.
The dream involved finding and exploring a wing of the house that did not actually exist in real life. When described, it turned out that we all pretty much saw the "dream wing" (as we called it) the same way, although it was attached to different parts of the house.

I really can't remember my dreams anymore. Sometimes I dream for a week straight then not until 2 months later. The last one I can remember having was like 2 weeks ago and I don't remember anything except for what some characters looked like.

As a kid, I had the same nightmare every night for over a year.
I dreamt that there was a ship made of fire that sailed up and down the river next to my house, it never did anything to harm me or anyone else, but it just stinked of pure terror. I awoke in my own sweat every morning... still gives me the creeps to think about it, even if it sounds silly :)

Just the one when i was drunk in a dream walking home and a guy(who was also drunk) in a Trench coat took off said coat, chased me and then started whacking off...
As I recollect, it begins with myself exiting a white sedan; about me on a mountain road stand perhaps three other individuals. In the cusp of distant peaks to my left I see the verdure of a river valley reminiscent of both alpine Central Europe and Korea. We walk up along the road until a low structure, doorway open to the cloud-flecked jaws of brimming dawn, comes into view. We pause to remove handguns, and advance across a dirt courtyard. Five figures in clerical garb stand before me, their countenances set in speechless gapes as taut as those of gilded carp in the dregs of a drained wadi. A harsh murmur escapes one; from another, a clarion keen. The morning air hollows behind gunshots, and they are felled. I peer within the doorway and level a gun at the man I know to be the Pope. He raises his hands, as though in benediction, before a crimson rosette blossoms on his chest.
As we flee, one of my compatriots complains, inanely, of a bitter, resinous taste ("like myrrh") in his mouth.
Time passes.
I stand on the verandah floor of an unlit house, before a metal-framed aquarium. Within it, lush Boschian forms scrabble and dart. Presently, a rattling at the front door heralds the expected entry of a broad-faced man backlit by a pastel grimace of moon. He barks something indistinct, as might a jackal, but I stride over to silence him with a stream of aerosol from the canister now in my hands. He falls to his knees, clawing at now-unseeing eyes, yet the suspension I direct still into the orfices of his upturned face. After he has ceased to breathe, I return to the aquarium.
Miniscule fish - flecks of malachite, cinnabar, and orpiment - loll and sway against the trickling filter output. A Sesarmid crab scuttles across a splintered bar of driftwood - only to be seized by the raptorial arms of a hand-length river prawn. I lift the plastic canopy to with a wooden dowel prod the crab free. At this, the prawn, all mercurial limbs and streamlined grace, recurved rostrum like a serrated jambiyya, speaks to me through the glass, quoting Caliban and Nietzsche. Finally, it remarks, "Sheikh Usama died in 1998. Kidney failure on the anniversary of Thoreau's birth."
To which I reply, "I know."
Before the front door I find not a corpse but a slick mat of sphagnum. Here I reach up and grasp a dew-slick skein trailing, it seems, from the heavens. A nightingale's trill is consumed in the roar of fighter jets.
The dream culminates at the foot of glass spires in a city I know to be Tokyo: pockets distended with screws, rat poison, and bacterial ampoules, seven cobalt rods sewn within my coat, I thumb the detonator and awake.

The other night, I dreamt I was being deployed to Iraq. However there was one little problem. I had recieved no basic training, nothing. It was like they had kidnapped me off the street one day, drugged me, and took me aboard some ship somewhere. When I woke up, I was told what was going on, and that few of us would actually get any weaponry to use.
Naturally, I kinda freaked. I remember eventually finding the commander and saying, "What the hell is this shit you're trying to pull? If you want me to fight, then give me a damn gun and I'll learn how to use it myself!" *pointing a very mean looking finger at him*, "WITHOUT YOUR HELP!"
Odd, I know. I woke up later on to find my computer playing a playlist of military songs from around the world. Go figure eh?
