WHITE SOX WIN!!!!!!!
Interesting choice, putting the Brew crew in the playoffs. I will say, although the St. Louis Cardinals are still the dominant team (GO CARDS!!!) the division is getting very competitive. I went to a Brewers at Cards game last year, very early in the season, the Brewers have got a pretty good squad (although the Cards are good at getting into other teams bullpens, which wasnt pretty)
I am gonna say Cardinals over Whitesox in a close series. The championship comes back to St. Louis...... new stadium, same great Cardinal tradition...

I definatley say White Sox are gonna repeat.

Definitely not going to hurt their case that they have Jim Thome swinging for the fences......

After losing the personell they did in the offseason(if you think coacoa Crisp is gonna make up for Damon, you are high), no prospects coming up and an AL East where every team but the Sox and Yankees got better?
Boston's only chance of making the playoffs this year is to beat out an aging Yankee team for the division.

I have confidence in Boston's new bullpen. Lowell also if he stays healthy will certainly help and while Coco Crisp is not Damon he could easily turn into an asset. Besides, the Yankees seem to be on the decline. They got lucky taking the division in 2005 anyway.

Ya, lucky the Red Sox were the team in front of them. Both teams are on their way out. They will be on top for maybe two more seasons only because they are so loaded with high price talent. Soon, however, that division will be wide open.

The Yankees were lucky last year but this year will be different. The Red Sox's have always gotton runs on the board and with the Manny/Big Papi combo the team is deadly. The Sox's major weakness has always been their bullpen and the new guys they brought in should help alleviate that. Fans will stop moaning on Damon's betrayal and will see that Crisp will do just fine. I'd say the Sox would have a better chance this year than last.

But the starting pitching isn't all that great. And I think that infield is a real question.
The rest of the division all improved as well as cleveland.

Curt Schilling is healthy now and Matt Clement is better all the time. Everyone else... What do you have against the starters? Papelbon could turn into something big and Beckett! Things are looking good for Boston.
So is this "Cards in the World Series" thing universal? I haven't heard any contrasting NL opinions yet. Rumor is that Rolen is healthy and ready to go, Edmonds is healthy, they cleared off some of the deadweight older guys, and of course, when it comes down to it, Pujols is going to put another brilliant year out there... Who is going to stop them, anybody?

They've been good the past couple of years but they still haven't gotton a World Series win. They seem to fall apart when they go into the postseason.

Thats because the bullpen has been crap for the past couple years. When they played Boston 2 years back they didnt have their best starter, Chris Carpenter, who came back strong and won the Cy Young this past year. However, this past year Ray King fell apart in the playoffs, Izzy wasn't his normal dominant self, and they just couldn't keep runners off base. That should be fixed this year, and I see them actually improving their offense even more, now that Sanders and Walker have both been put out to pasture.

Everyone thinks their team is going to be better in 2006. We all can only hope that our teams new players actually perform. I certainly have high hopes for Boston this year.
If you think the Cards fall out of the playoffs, then you really have to see the Braves. They are in the playoffs every year for almost 15 years and fall out every year except 1995. Is that sad or what?

I wouldn't make any predictions now if I were you. It's too early to predict anything. Plus, it's bad mojo to say to predict that you team will win the series.

I think the Braves have a good chance of taking the NL East this year, those young players developed nicely as last year progressed, and should be firing on all cylinders when this year starts. If they could get one more arm for the bullpen, may have a shot.

You don't want to predict your team to win it all? You aren't a fan of a losing team are you?
I know there are alot of depressed Reds fans here in Cincinnati. They are certainly not going anywhere anytime soon! :D

No, it's just bad mojo. You can predict that your team will have a good season, you can't just say there're going to win the pennant. Fate does not like it when baseball fans get ahead of themselves.

That's the anti-climactic prediction of the year. When have they not won the NL East? They win it every year, but die in the postseason.

Didn't hurt my Sox last year. :D

Just think of Cincinnati as the baseball equivalent to the Ottawa Senators.. They were very very bad for several years (about a decade) and got a lot of raw, young talent during those years. They are now a fairly young, strong, even dominant team in the NHL. I think with the right moves, picking up enough draft picks and prospects, etc. the Reds could be the same way. They still have a heck of a lot of power, I don't really like to see alot of those faces when my Cardinal pitchers take the mound......

Bullshit. No team has a better starting rotation than the Sox and with Thome added to the lineup, nobody can beat them. Sox are going to repeat. No question whatsoever.

I went to the Great American Ballpark last year to see the Reds face off against the Cardinals. Pujols got two homeruns and Walker one himself. The Reds lost by a dozen runs due to the Reds absolutely crappy pitching. Adam Dunn is the Reds supposed slugger but unlike others he's a homerun or strikeout guy. I stared at the Reds lineup and the players BA's and saw lots of .250's and lower. Things are just... very bad.
Luckily I was born in Massachusetts and only moved to Cincy so my #1 team is the Red Sox, who actually win games! :)

IF, and this is a big if here, the cubs stay healthy they could be a sleeper for the wild card. At least they should be a player this season and be a headache for a lot of teams.

There is one thing, I will say this, as much as the Cubs and Cards hate each other, there is a level of respect among the fans. I can't ever remember a time thinking, nor really knowing anyone around here (ST. LOUIS) that didnt want the Cubs to have a healthy team. Last year, the Cardinals of course run away with things, but it is always good to see your rivals healthy, bringing their A game.. What fun is it beating the cubbies by a dozen when they have 2 starters from their opening day lineup healthy.... almost like playing a AAA team.
Good luck to the Cubbies, may you put up the best 2nd place numbers of any team in baseball.

You are my new fav poster after IDF.
The Cubs aren't going anywhere this year. Prior is already having shoulder problems. I'm telling you, Dusty is the worst manager in baseball. He kills his pitchers by putting them out for 120+ pitches every day.
THe Indians aren't getting the wildcard. They weren't that good last year. They just had an 8 week stretch where they were very good. They sucked the rest of the time. They even ended the season on a 5 game losing streak. Not to mention the fact that losing Westbrook to replace him with Byrd hurts that rotation. Oh, and losing Crisp will hurt,

Did anyone else see the comments Ozzie made on Pay-Rod? Ozzie Guillen is the man!!!!!!

Indians loss is the Red Sox's gain. :)

If the White Sox have a team like they did last year, there will simply be no competition.
However, trades happen, people age, and maybe they'll lose a bit and someone else will gain.
I'm going to hold onto hope, once more, that the Toronto Blue Jays, who have been building up their team for the last few years, will come out strong, and at least take their division!
But, that may just be wishful thinking. ;)

My 'stros will not be swept in October this year. I don't think I could handle that again...especially those extra innings, not good for the blood pressure.
Manny is once again being Manny and the stupid East Coast biased morons on ESPN won't shut up about him. I'm not a Blow Sawx fan. I don't give a damn if he's skipping camp. Theose idiots paid him $20 million. I"m just going to laugh at the Blow Sawx.

Dont worry about ESPN. Last year they had the sox coming in third in AL Central.

Some of them had us in 4th place behind the Tigers. That really pissed me off.
I don't need ESPN anymore. I get all of my Sox news from www.flyingsock.com
