Introduction

My name is Sean Summer, a 22 year old college student. I was born on Feb. 18, 1984 in Charlotte, North Carolina. It figures that a guy like me would love aviation. I live in the state where the first flight took place! I am a pilot who flies the single engine propeller aircraft that you see buzzing everywhere. The current aircraft that I fly is the Piper Cherokee 140. I subscribed to several internet message boards relating to aviation, subscribe to Plane and Pilot, and attend several fly ins in my area. In short, I love flying, I love it like a fat person loves turkey on Thanksgiving!
So why "Just Plane Talk", why invest money and time into a radio program that I'm doing for free? Because I love aviation so much that I am willing to defend it when the media bashes it. Everytime there is an aviation accident, the media goes NUTS! As a result, we get half truth reporting that is nothing more than smoke and mirrors. We have "aviation experts" that are nothing more than the guy that tells you where the airport delays are. So I've decided to buy a mic. mixer, some computer programs, and a server and voice my opinion.
So what can you expect on "Just Plane Talk"? Not only will I be discussing important issuses facing the aviation community, such as the TSA (Transportation Safety Administration), important bills that are being passed at Washington DC, and those damn TFR's (Temp. Flight Restriction) and the No Fly Zones. However, "Just Plane Talk" won't always deal with politics. We'll also discuss new products, new aircrafts, anything new that is coming out of the workshop. We'll discuss night flying, winter flying, from small grass strip to the big boys! We'll even have guests on who will provide insightful and entertaining look into their part in the aviation community. We will even have shows that are broadcasted at fly ins and hopefully Oshkosh.
So, sit in your favorite chair, pour some of your favorite drink, click on the Listen Now button, and enjoy a rare look into the inside working of the aviation community!

The reason I am posting this is that I'm ready to buy the hardware, but before I do I just want to figure out my audience size.

Cool. Makes me wonder though; how many people here on NS are actual pilots?

Probably very few. I'm reaching a small audience I know lol. But I dunno, it just seems like we have too many political talk shows, so I though I'd try something diffrent. The only other thing I know very well beside politics and history is aviation.

So what kind of hardware do you need to do an internet radio show? Recording equipment? Mics?

Well if you want to do it right, you need a good microphone, and not one of those chepo ones. I'm talking about a microphone that the pros use. You also need a mixer, a broadcasting program (SAM Broadcaster 3). You'll also need a server which I am working on right now. This is what I plan on buying.

Are you going to offer your show as a podcast? Much more convenient for some, plus it allows a person to keep all the shows they like/contain important info/etc...

I probably wouldn't because I'm not into aviation.

It's going to be broadcasted live, and then played into a loop on the server until next week's show.

Cool! :) Thats another purpose of my show that I haven't though of. I can probably put in some shows for the people who are starting out in this fine community.

Your Price: $249.00

That seems reasonable. when you mentioned a mixer, I automatically thought in the $1000 range.

Good luck with it, man! It's good to see people pursue their loves! I'm still trying to figure mine out.

I do not hold a negative opinion of aviation.

I have no interest in listening to your talk show.

Here's my two cents--if you're seriously going to worry about the size of your audience, don't do it. Do it because you want to do it, and because you're willing to sacrifice the time and money to do it even if no one else is listening. Then it's worth it.

You don't have to have a negative opinion of aviation to tune in. You can tune in to hear people talk about aviation and learn about the the hobbies, careers, and aviation community.

I agree totally, but you got to admit, it would be nice to have at least a few people listening.

I used SAMS a few years back interesting program.. in the long run I'm interested in doing some type of music topchart, so slow going though it'll be years before it gets going.

The podcast thing is useful as it lets you record then others can download it etc..

Megaupload etc.. make this so much easier (and free) I'm geussing there are some aviation hounds out there. Airshows, companies flying, missles, space, stuff... etc...

I had difficulty reading past two lines of your bio though.. but maybe it's because I secretly have selective ADD

I would do it if I were you, but I wouldn't pay for shiat (except maybe a mic and not a shure mic or an expensive one, unless it paids. like having commerical backers..

GO YOU!

Just remember to say the most righteous and supreme president..... and you'll prolly stay on air. (pun)
