It seems a couple of Homeland Security employees decided to take it upon themselves to protect us against internet porn in the libraries. Despite the fact that it's not in their job descriptions, they must have decided that porn is a serious threat to the USA. I feel safer already.

Haha, the fact that they were unaware of their own country's constitutional law is just the icing on the cake.

Am I unique in that I hate behaving in a way that makes me look stupid? These guys seem to get off on looking like morons.

But the terrorists are trying to lessen our determination via porn. The Homeland Security officers were right -- we need to fight back! Who cares about the 1st Amendment? It is just a regrettable inconvenience. Lives are at stake -- and think of the children!

Probably ex-traffic police or something.

Now if they can only find a way to protect library users from unwanted knowledge as well.

I'm going to get me a Department of Homeland Security hat and walk around town randomly telling people they can't do things.

you know, it makes sense. If we can get porn in our public libraries, then we will all clearly be too busy looking at it and masturbating to properly fight off the terrorists. Although, if they have any manners at all, they would let us finish the job before they attack.

Who would go to the library to look at porn in the first place? Those are some seriously desperate individuals.

Um, it was research. Yeah, research for um, oh, an article I'm writing. Yeah, an article. That's the ticket.

Aye, but that's hardly the point.

Just be sure to add references at the end so you don't get screwed over for copyright or anything.

My mum is involved with the administration of the IT network in libraries in our region, and she is always telling us how problematic the whole problem of internet censorship in libraries.

They used to try getting away with no censor ship - but some people just didn't have any shame. They were looking at hardcore porn quite openly, so everyone else could see. Inevitably they got complaints - little kids could see the porn on the screens.

They couldn't come to an agreement about what exactly should be censored and what shouldn't be, so they gave the choice to each individual library. However, the libraries of the more conservative towns (like my own >.<) wanted to censor everything from porn to knives. Knives! I mean come on.

The problem is that you can walk into a library and get an erotic novel or a book on knives - there is no censorship in books in libraries, so why the same for the internet? On the other hand, they tried no censorship and it didn't work.

But the terrorists are trying to lessen our determination via porn.it is worse than that: pornography is part of a communist conspiracy to undermine the west. watch Charles Keatings "Perversion for Profit" (http://www.archive.org/details/Perversi1965)
