My hypothesis is that this forum is preodminantly leftist libertarian. Prove me wrong. By the way, for those of you who aren't sure which way to vote, here's the breakdown.

1. Leftist Libertarian= the economy should be controlled by the state, (how much control is up to you, anything from communism to capitalism with regulations) but the state should stay out of the people's private lives.

2. Leftist Authoritarian= the economy should be controlled by the state(again, how much control is up to you) and the state should also enfore moral decency.

3. Rightist Libertarian= the government should not interfere with the economy (or interfere as little as possible) and the government should also not interfere with people's personal lives.

4. Rightist Authoritarian= the government should not interfere with the economy (or interfere as little as possible) and it should enforce moral decency.

This political test will help: http://www.politicalcompass.org/

If you're moderate, just vote for the one you agree with most, or disagree with least.

See siggy for exact political compass score, but I definitely fit the "leftist libertarian" category.

i'm +6 toward the right side of the economic equation, and just below the horizontal line... slightly on the side of libertarian.

I reckon I'm a leftist libertarian by your definitions. I'm still a registered member of the Republican party though despite the fact that I no longer agree with many of their policies. I'm just too lazy to go on down to the board of elections and change my affiliation.

I suppose by your definitions I am Right Libertarian or whatever.

My sig has my score, although I am not sure if I ever did fix it.........I guess I will go see...

I'm going to stop there because it's beginning to look like a lonely hearts ad...

Leftist Libertarian, I'm neither a Democrat nor a Republican. I find both parties full of rich people who put themselves ahead of the good of the people. They are both steaming piles of corruption. Basically, I HATE both of them. I don't really have a HUGE problem with capitalism. But I <3 Socialistic goverments.....

It is my understanding that the term "leftist libertarian" is typically claimed by the anarchist element. They will assert that collective/cooperative economic organization can occur without necessarily involving the exertion of statist coercion. In fact, the whole point is to eliminate statist coercion. Thus, the definition provided above is flawed.

Also, according to my political compass scores, I do not fall within either the left or right. Neither do the definitions provided for the various categories allow me a suitable choice. As such, the premise of this thread, and the ideological model upon which it is based, is also flawed.

If you're moderate, just vote for the one you agree with most, or disagree with least

The model is flawed, and these "agree with most" or "disagree with least" provisions serve only to corrupt the data.

Nevermind that these forum polls hardly represent a scientifically valid means of collecting said data. My 20 or so other nations provide a great way for me to enhance my influence. :)

Though if you play with definitions loosely, even the most radical anarcho-communist would be a Libertarian-Right winger according to the OP.

at the very least, it can't be the case that a defining feature of the libertarian left is state control of the economy.

yah... the Party in the USSR would have been (officially, anyway, to say nothing of those in the Party who didn't really think like the Party) Leftist Authoritarian on this model.

Whereas, Nazis were maybe in the center on the economic continuum (right?) -- they controlled some facets yet still allowed for plenty of entrepreneurial activity... but are at the top of the Y axis... right at the top.

I vote for the candidate, not for the Party.

I'm center right so I believe I fit in the Right Libertarian. I'm pretty much for personal freedoms and against welfare slackers.

You know, I don't like labels, but the test put me at Leftist Liberatarian - right around the areas of Ghandi, the Dalai Lama, and Nelson Mandela. Sounds like a grouping I don't mind.

Economic Left/Right: -3.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.87
