How hardcore of a league are you talking about? I'll be traveling in the second half of the summer and won't be able to keep up.

I agree with Nass, if it is not too involved i might give it a shot.

One can be as involved as they want to be. Last year's league had a couple folks that were really on top of things, a few of us that meddled, and a couple that just watched the standings. I travel a lot, too, and not everywhere has an internet connection for me to make my daily lineup changes.

If we get a few more 'me toos', I'll see what it takes to open up a Yahoo! league. Then we can argue over the details.

Oh, sure ... there've been a few here and there. Al Kaline (hall of famer) is one of the more notable Muslim baseball players. I'm sure there are plenty more, but I'd have to do some research on it.

I've run a Yahoo rotisserie league for the past four years and would be willing to do an NS one this year, if there's enough interest. Those interested can TG me. I usually do my draft about a week or so before Opening Day and would need at least 9 (though hopefully more) people in the league, besides myself.

There's two ways. There's a head-to-head league that's my favorite. The paired teams win or lose, based on the stats that you track. The rotisserie leagues just rank the teams every week based on the stats.

Head-to-head works better, I think, for games like football. Doing it with other sports, where teams have a different number of games each week, gets a bit messy, I've found.

In the NS league last year I didn't make a single roster change all season and came in third. You can do just fine without staying on top of it day to day.

Just a random question: Who here thinks Billy Beane is an overrated piece of crap? I mean there are numerous moneyball teams out there, but not one has won a World Series. Then in the book "Moneyball," Beane bashes Kenny Williams, an anti-moneyball GN. Who has won more? Kenny Williams or Beane? I think it's obvious that moneyball is crap.

Well they are, but last year we all talked about and came up with what stats we'd all like to see used. It was a compromise, and, surprisingly, very few arguments came from it.

And I would like to participate. I didn't make that evident.

I've configured the league for head-to-head, mostly with defaults for now. We need to decide on a day and time for a live draft, if we intend to do that and which stats we want to use.
Currently the draft is set for Sunday, March 19 at 5:30pm EST. That's a month away and a couple weeks before the season starts on April 2.

The current stats are:

Stat Categories: R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, W, SV, K, ERA, WHIP

Everyone listed in message #1 should have a TG with the league password.

I'm a big fan of small ball. (It comes with being a Sox fan today.)

I'm the Balco Bombers. I might just have to draft Barry Bonds even though I hate him for his roid usage.

I had barry last year and only got to use him for a couple of weeks. You'd have to avoid drafting a lot of players if the steroid issue gets in the way. I am the quail hunters but that may change.

Dan, M3rc, and Fin, thanks for playing. You should have TGs with the league ID and password. The details for scoring and drafting are in an earlier post. There is still quite a bit of flexibility in the draft date and time, so if you have a conflict, let's work it out as early as possible.
