It seems that it's not just the Nigerians that need my help these days, but the poor Miss Zongo. Post your favourite 419 scam baiter site, and I'll hand this ditty over to them.

Dear One,
It is my pleasure to acquaint you with this proposalfor the purpose of
investment in your country underyour management. I am MISS FATI ZONGO the
only daughter of late JULLIUS ZONGO from Sierra Leone.
My late father was a gold and diamond merchant based in Freetown,
Sierra-Leone. As a result of the political instability of Sierra-Leone, my
late father packaged USD35,500,000.00, Thirty five million, five hundred
thousand dollars in cash which he deposited in a Security Institution for
security reasons. He declared the deposit as Personal Effects as shown in
the certificate of deposit
in my possession.
I am here seeking for an avenue to transfer this money to a reliable and
trustworthy individual for investment and management purpose.
I am here as a refugee because of the political crisis in my country Sierra
Leone. Please I would offer you 20% of the total sum of USD14.5M for your
assistance. Please I need to transfer this money urgently because delay would
not help at all and I need to relocate based on the political instability in
this sub-region,to enable me continue my education because i was medical
student before the death of my parents.
Your immediate response would be appreciated.
Best regards,

MISS FATI ZONGO.

There's even a song about 419 scams that's popular in some parts of Africa these days.

Here are the lyrics for the 'I Go Chop Your Dollar'. It's a song that makes you want to dance even if you are 100% opposed to 419 scams.

Lyrics
pon say I get sense
Poverty no good at all, no
Na im make I join this business

419 no be thief, it's just a game
Everybody dey play em
if anybody fall mugu,
ha! my brother I go chop em

Chorus:
National Airport na me get em
National Stadium na me build em
President na my sister brother
You be the mugu, I be the master

Oyinbo man I go chop your dollar,
I go take your money and disappear
419 is just a game, you are the loser I am the winner

The refinery na me get em,
The contract, na you I go give em
But you go pay me small money make I bring em
you be the mugu, I be the master…
na me be the master ooo!!!!

When Oyinbo play wayo,
dey go say na new style
When country man do him own,
them go dey shout: bring em, kill em, die!

That Oyinbo people greedy, I say them greedy
I don't see them tire
That's why when they fall into my trap o!
I dey show them fire

I'm starting to get the feeling that these guys are not serious. I've responded to couple of them asking them to send me US$1,000 as a show of good faith but so far no answer.

I once signed one of my responses as Robert Mugabe.

is it possible to con money off a 419 scammer that would be classic and earn at least the status of legend in my mind

is it possible to con money off a 419 scammer that would be classic and earn at least the status of legend in my mindAside from the fact it's legally ambigous and dangerous, that would be pretty cool.

If you go to 419eater, there are a few examples where people have turned the scam around on the scamers and tricked them into ponying up some money up front.

Even when they don't get money out of them, they cause the scammers a huge amount of inconvenience. It makes for some amusing reading. There's one notable example on the audio section of the site where one of the scam baiters literally reduces a scammer to tears. :)

419 scams are prevalent all over Western Africa now. They're gradually spreading across the rest of the continent, as well.

I once saw a site where a person really got that to happen. They paid his airline tickets gave him arond 500 dollars, etc. it was great. Of course the 'Making them hold stupid signs' thing is always funny.

YOU EVIL, EVIL MAN!

It comes with the red and black armor with long decorated sword and cool silver hair. And the miles of sulfering volcanic lands with an all seeing eye.

Been done. I saw a genuinely hilarious story some years ago, but I don't remember enough of it to find it. What I did find was a still funny website. Here is the one story I read. Website. (http://sweetchillisauce.com/ntales/vader1.html) (It has enough innuendo and things you might find it amusing just for that.)
