How many of you have read the Dune books? Or watched the films? Or played the games?
Would anybody here be interested in a RP of the Dune world using the NS RP model?

As in you love Dune? So would you be interested in a Dune RP? Each person controls a House à la NS etc.
Do you play Emperor Battle for Dune?

For RPs you should go to http://forums.jolt.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=1223

I love the books (although I didn't read them in the original language, but Dutch), the movies, the games

but I don't know Emperor Battle for Dune though....

I read, and liked, the first book. Then Herbert got silly with the God Emperor "I wanna be a Worm" crap.

The Movie wasn't bad, in a creepy sort of way, but all in all I liked other series much better.

The original Dune series was, and is, the single best sci-fi series ever, bar none.

The current new Dune series is a pedestrian mockery of the original. The movie was decent, but can not reasonably be compared to the book.

I do not think I would be interested in an RPG based on the Dune universe. NSis as close I get.

You mean there's more than one?

Well check out www.dune2k.com if you're interested in Dune anyway. One of the biggest Dune sites out there. We've got a FanFic section up there as well, with threads as large as the NS RPs.
Anyone like the Prequels then? Written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson.

I've read all of the books and watched both of the Scifi Channel movies (Dune and Children of Dune). I like it. :)

Safalra:There's the David Lynch film made in 1984, and the aforementioned miniseries on the Sci-Fi channel

The Lynch movie is the only part of the Dune universe I've seen, except a few minutes of Children of Dune until I couldn't stand it anymore. Lynch's version is very cool. It's so unique you can't help but loving it.

The first book was good. DL's movie version was pretty cool in its time as well.

However, the subsequent books, and FH's miniseries suck.

I wonder how many people say they love the books, but at the same time are very anti-Muslim. That would be an interesting subject to delve into. The nature of Mua'dib's jihad and its parallels to present day Islam.

Since Mua'dib is the Mahdi, the Shi'a term for the messiah.

I read the origional and loved it. The ones that he wrote afterwards were foolish and dare I say... boring?

The prequels by his son were ok but certainly not as good as the origional.

Read the first book, and really liked it - but i've heard so much bad feedback about the other books that I don't want to bother reading them and ruining it for me. I hate it when one book in a series is very promising and the rest are let downs.

I've also played the original Dune (Highly recommended, you can probably download it for free somewhere), Dune 2000, Emperor battle for Dune and Frank Herberts Dune. I've got the movie and Sci Fi channel series on DVD, but both are pretty disapoining. Except the main theme music of the movie...that rocks.

I've read the book and seen the film, the book is infinitely better. I've avoided the other books on the advice of a friend who knows books like i know... stuff, who said that they get all weird in a bad way, especially when herbert's family started to write.

Sorry to say it but i'm not much of an RPer outside of Dungeons & Dragons, and I've never learned the NS way of RPing, but if i did i'd love to join in.

So, send in the Flying Fat Man!

The games have nothing to do with the books. I hate the games, amusing they are, but they must be purged.

He also read the Orange Catholic Bible though. And their Islam was a Islam/Buddhism hybrid.
