Far too many to mention.

Whats the deal with James f*ckin Blunt though? Its almost comical going through his songs and pointing out every cliche. The man sings standard love songs with lyrics borrowed from a million other songs, doing so with absolutely NO sincerity and so bringing absolutely nothing new to music. Yet he sells millions of records. I will never understand the record buying public.

Oh sorry its bands isnt it...

I don't know how many people really like htis band, but in my Compsci class there's this kid that always listens to 'Scary Kids Scaring Kids' really freakin loud on his headphones (So that everyone in the class can hear it) and then his firend always asks 'what'cha listen'in to?" to which the kid always responds "Scary kids"

Its like no crap dumbS**t, what the h**l else does he EVER listen to...

You're right, most people do like them Many with a fervent passion. Like me!

If it wasnt for the fact that I'm ill in a big way I'd get Teen Spirit on yo' ass.

On a lighter note, I absolutely hate ALL rap, no exceptions... Even the Hilltop Hoods, who aren't actually bad by rap standards, I'd rather be in silence than listen to.

Oh and most techno, but there are some exceptions, and they arent even bands, so it doesnt count.

Nightwish. Fans claim the lead singer was angelic. I think she sounded more like an angel being raped by satan. Seriously, her voice made my ears bleed, but not before disembowelling me, removing my eyes and laying a brown egg on my chest. I consider anyone who actually enjoyed her voice to be seriously mentally disturbed, not to mention having terrible taste in music. That, and they're deaf.

Slipknot, system of a down, and greenday. I know lots of people who are "in love" with those bands but they suck! Sure Greenday was good in the 90s when they had "Time of your life" but that American Idiot song sucks. And Slipknot? It's not music, it's musical genocide. System of a Down is just crap.

Also, at my high school, there are a surprising amount of heavy metal bands. To name them: 'Churchfire,' 'Iron Sharpens Iron,' and 'Wait 'til Wednesday' (By the way, I hated them. My friends band was the only good one). Also, there's a christian metal band there too, but I'm afraid to list that as bad, 'cause God might strike me down. >_>

Hmmm... I actually like most of Rammstein. It's good for keeping me awake. I only like the first two cd's by System of a down... But I hate Simple Plan with an absolute passion. Those god-damn whiny Quebecers. I also hate almost all of Quebec so maybe that's part of the reason but all of those "No one possibly can understand me but you! My loyal, lonesome fan who's spent over $200 buying my clothing, my music and seeing my crap concerts!" All of those whiny bands I hate. I mean, emo can't even mosh properly. I once saw a emo kid try to do that stupid punching kicking crap in a mosh pit and when someone moshing accidentally bumped into him he fell to the ground with a split lip and started crying. Pussies, the whole lot of them. I also hate rap and country. Country occasionally has good lyrics but the music sucks. Did I mention I hate emo?

Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, and the Beatles are all vile abominations. Overhyped and oversold, they should receive nothing but contempt. Pretty much anything from the 60's or 70's sucks, with only a handful of rare exceptions.
And just about every politically or religiously motivated group sucks ass because they rely on the aforementioned political or religious cause to sell them, instead of actually producing kwality work.

Still very high on the suckitude meter--for me. I had a friend give me a half dozen tracks and I couldn't get them off my iPod fast enough.

Oh, and to whoever was saying that Green Day's "Time of Your Life" was superior to "American Idiot," get a cat scan. "American Idiot" may not have been the greatest song ever, but "Time of Your Life" is pure pop dreck. It's aural santorum.

I have linked to it in the past, yes. Aural santorum (http://spreadingsantorum.com).

I have a history with Green Day. When I heard their first hit, "Do you have the time / to listen to me whine," my first reaction was "Why, no." And I've never really looked back, although I will admit that I like the line "I'm not part of your redneck agenda" from American Idiot.

I'm gonna go for any and all Pussy-Punk. I've got no problem with Emo bands who are honest about what they are. I don't agree with their phillosophies, but musically they don't sound as bad as, say, Brittany Spears or her ilk. But "Punkers" who are just emo or pop in disguise are annoying. Yellowcard, Good Charolette, Simple Pain, and Green Day all get the nix from me.

Other than that? All pop, country, rap, "rock", and Christian rock/"punk"/folk/Metal/tapdancingetc. are all pretty damn awful.

And I don't like the Dead Kennedys. I like their lyrics, I like their message, but I can't listen to them for more than 3 or 4 minutes without wincing. It's just got this grating edge to it that drives me crazy.

The Eagles.
Lynyrd Skynyrd.

It is really weird how that works. I mean, before college, I never even heard of DMB. While at college, everybody loves it and you can't go to a party without hearing 5 DMB songs. After graduation, you burn your T-shirt and give your CDs to some freshman.

I know that just about everybody here knows this, and most hate me for it, but in the imortal words of Thin Lizzy "I HATE LED ZEPPELIN!"

Now there is a band I don't really get - Thin Lizzy. I have a couple of friends who are fanatical about them, but I just plain don't get it. Yeah sure, some of their more straightforward rock songs are okay, but when it comes to their weird synth-laden ballads and romantic tunes I'm left scratching my head.

It's not that I'm against Irish/Celtic blues bands or anything though - I greatly appreciate Rory Gallagher, Skid Row (not the American band, the Irish/Northern Ireland one from the early 70s), Alex Harvey and even Nazareth (although at times they are truely dreadful: I present their nine minute cover of The Ballad Of Hollis Brown as evidence).

It's just something about Thin Lizzy that does little for me. Sure I can see how important they were as a successful Irish band in the seventies, and I can see how hard Phil Lynnot had to work to get where he was. Still I'd much rather sit down and listen to any of the bands above, or Horslips -to pluck another of their contemporaries. If nothing else Horslips actually produced a fantastic live LP (The Belfast Tapes), which is something Thin Lizzy never managed - Live And Dangerous actually only contains a live recording of drums and audience, all the rest (guitars, bass and vocals) were all completely overdubbed in the studio.

What's with the AC/DC hatred here? Have they done something lately to inspire it? I mean, they were never high art, but they were really good at what they did, which was straight-ahead-smack-you-in-the-face rock. I don't give a fuck about the hype. I used to hate Nirvana (well...pretty much all popular music) because of the hype too...until a friend lent me Bleach. That album holds a soft spot for me because I was totally music illiterate a few years ago when I heard it. It opened a whole new world for me, because it tore up and spat on everything i'd thought about music in general - and i'd thought Nirvana were just another band the popular kids listened to, along with the Offspring and Silverchair (they're an Aussie thing...). Bleach was different, loud, obnoxious, and insane. Nobody listened to that shit. I *liked* it. It was punk, plain and simple...and it woke me up to music.

And then I got into their later stuff, and eventually settled on In Utero as my favourite. I consider it a perfect example of beauty in chaos. ;)

Like I said, fuck the hype. I like the band. I wouldn't care if they only sold less than 50,000 records throughout their entire career. If I managed to discover them in a similar way, i'd very likely still consider them my favourite band.

Eh. Oh well. Each to their own. Not that there's anything wrong with your taste anyway :p

I must confess a soft spot for Alice Cooper as well. I taught myself to play most of "Halo of Flies" today, actually. :p

As for Metallica though...odd. I think of Metallica pretty much the same way you think of Nirvana. Metallica are great instrumentalists and all, but...their music doesn't really do it for me. Yar, the rest of the members are definitely talented, but there's a reason why Maynard overshadows the rest of them. He's the hero of the story, the main character, the orchestrator of the beauty - the purity - that is TooL. Lyrics, feeling, meaning, depth, emotion - it's all there because of Maynard. If it weren't for Maynard, TooL would be nothing. Same with A Perfect Circle. No offense to Billy Howerdel, but he's -definitely- not Maynard-quality.

If you hadn't noticed yet, I'm one of those posers that live their lives by TooL's lyrics. =P Lol. I actually go and look for sites that discuss the meaning behind lyrics and start TooL discussions if there aren't already ones (there usually are).

But I wont hear a word against James Blunt or Rammstein, they rock! all love songs are cliched, and theres only so much a band can do to differentiate their songs when you cant understand the lyrics, but rammstein have got more variation in their music than a lot of other bands.

I also hate mcfly. the litle bitches that they are.

What's with Kaiser Chiefs appropriating their name from a South African soccer club? Random. I grew up hearing about the Kaiser Chiefs, seeing them on TV and stuff and then I moved away, and all of a sudden they're a band. The first time I heard the name I was did a serious double take.

The Beatles really bother me. I can't figure out why, because I like the songs, just not when they're performed by the Beatles. I've always blamed it on subliminal messages.

Many. Probably too many to list on here. But anyway:

Mostly ALL modern pop groups and singers. I cannot stand them. I also hate crappy would-be 'punk' groups such as Green Day and the like. U2 is also very overrated. Evanescence annoys me. Also shitty 'rock' bands such as this 'Slipknot' and 'Korn' and 'Limp Bizkit'. I also hate pretty much all rap singers. Especially ones who glorify guns and drugs and this 'hussling' business.

I hate an awful lot of groups. Basically anything and everything that is in the mainstream.

I'll just go with the flow here and say that every song that I have ever heard is offensive to me, because after I turn on the radio I always have to punish myself by cleansing my ear canals with sand paper, because I am an uptight prick who can't stand the thought of liking something that someone else might also like.

Oh, and what about Led Zeppelin? I never understood why they were/are so popular.

The Greatful Dead, Aerosmith, AC/DC...The list goes on and on.

There are alot of people who need to sit down and listen to a few minutes of Miles Davis. Then there are a few people who deserve to get beaten by Miles Davis's ghost for listening to such terrible music. If you don't like the Dead and like jazz, you're never going to like anything else in rock and roll. They were the closest thing to jazz in rock. If you don't believe me, go spend $5 on Live/Dead and listen to the whole thing in succession (sp?).

Above poster: Zeppelin had Jimmy Page. Enough said.

To add to what I said earlier, I particulary hate Green Day, Nirvana, Blink 182, etc. Especially Nirvana. People think Cobain was a good guitarist (Rolling Stone said that he was the 12th best guitarist ever. Higher than Garcia, Stills, Howe, Van Halen, Townshend, etc. List (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolling_Stone%27s_List_of_the_100_Greatest_Guitarists_of_All_Time)). Then they say that Smells Like Teen Spirit was a good song. Except for that it was basically written 18 years before.

Led Zeppelin is what you get when you put four musical geniuses in a room together and tell them to make music. Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and, how could I forget Bonzo?

Kiser Cheifs, green day adn Coldplay are all good!

Kaiser Chiefs - most overplayed crap I've heard recently

Green Day - were good when I was a kid. Then I grew out of it.

Coldplay - I'd rather stab myself in the eye than hear 10 seconds of a Coldplay song. They're so boring.

The Doors were probably the most "jazzy" of popular rock bands.

AND...I pretty much hate the Dead.

Guns N' Roses is, without a doubt, one of the best bands of all time. I consider them the last "true" band and Axl Rose is the last true rockstar.

Just to answer the thread: Everything that came after GNR. Minus Nirvana and The Stone Temple Pilots, all the grunge movement and this post-grunge I-Wanna-Be-like-Green Day stuff is just dumb.

Chinese Democracy starts now!

Hi mister person with one post. I realize that it's dumb that i'm responding to your post after you've probably gone anyway; but i'd like to make a point in saying that it's also pretty annoying for someone to hate someone but then can't even bother to spell their name right.

I find it funny how in recent years it has become cool to say you hate whatever either is popular or was ground breaking before you were born.

Also, I hate every band you listen to, that's how I roll.

I don't have much to add to this thread. Most bands I hate have probably already been listed. Basically, if it's pop/light rock or rap, and it's radio friendly, then I probably hate it (or find it boring, at least).

I should mention one band that I didn't see while looking through this thread: Bowling for Soup. For that one song called 1985. Even thinking about it makes me seriously annoyed.

I don't think the Gunz & Roses was very good...

Slash was a beast, but Axl Rose, ehhhhh

He basically was a pussy, trying to act tough, and it was really unconvincing

1. whoever sang that "party in the desert, blowing up the sunshine" song. Not that it's anti-war. It just the song starts out smooth, then gets rough halfway through. That band needs to mesh the song together. No abrupt changes. Make it a smooth transition.

2. gangsta rap. It just has too much singing and not enough melody.

3. Most, if not all, of the latest rock. It's just too chaotic. The bands try too hard to be unique that they butcher rock's original purpose: to express one's feelings in a somewhat smooth way. No yelling and/or screaming. It was meant to tell a story, whether it be about love or current issues.
