How scary is this? How do you fight these guys?

A Hamas Web site recently published the videotape wills of two suicide bombers, with two main messages: One is directed to the Jews whose blood Hamas pledges to drink until they flee from the land of the Muslims, and the other is devoted to a mother who helps her son plan a suicide attack, according to Palestinian Media Watch, which presents the video shown on the Hamas site after its victory in the Palestinian parliamentary elections.

The video shows Idham Ahmed Majila and Maumin Rajab Rajab, who blew themselves up at the Karni crossing at the end of 2004. "My message to the hated Jews: There is no God but Allah," Majala says. "We will hunt you everywhere, when you wake and when you sleep. We are a blood-drinking people and we know that there is no better blood than Jewish blood.

"We will not leave you alone until we quench ourselves with your blood and we will quench the thirst of our children with your blood. We will not rest until you leave the lands of the Muslims."

Rajab, the second terrorist, says: "By the life of Allah, we will destroy you. We will blow you up. We will take our revenge on you. We will purify our land of you, pigs, who have defiled our land. By the life of Allah, we will take our vengeance. We are carrying out this operation as harsh revenge against the sons of monkeys and pigs."

The video also shows a good-bye scene between mother and son as he gets ready to leave for the attack, with the mother helping him put on the explosive vest. In the background is a song, "O beloved mother, my mother. Don't cry for us."

Did they really vote these guys in power? Are the majority of their people in agreement with this? Holy cow, Batman!

Yeah, like I said. The Palestinians have voted away their future. Oh well, war makes for good CNN viewing.

I'd think I would be pretty pissed if someone just dumped people in my country after a war, then gave them weapons in which to fight me. Then after oh say, 40 or so years cage up my town like animals. The whole blood drinking thing is a metaphor, and besides that, nothing really new in this message that they haven't said about 1,000,000 other times.

I think the majority of Hamas voters did so more because of their social programmes rather than the suicide bombings. And of course the fact that Fatah was hopelessly corrupt.

Though personally I have a feeling it shows how totally upset they are with the status quo

There has to be something that drove them to this(not excusing their choice just saying we should pay attention to why ... it might help down the road)

Thanks for saying that, because it's exactly what I was going to say. Hamas and Hezbollah are similar in that way--they have militant wings and they have social programs, and the two rarely ever meet in the middle. There were undoubtedly some who voted for Hamas because of their militant stances, but there were also those who voted because Hamas helped them eat regularly last year, or got them medical care, or a place to live.

Wouldn't be sure the majority of Palestinians were in agreement with this - you have to remember who Hamas ran against in the election, a party seen by many as corrupt and inefficient. Hamas was a party that seemed to be able to bring the voters tangible benefits like healthcare, education and social development, more than Fatah did when they had the power. And keep order, too.

I believe these things have been more important to many Palestinian voters than the calls for the destruction of Israel.

Edit: Seems I'm not the only one to think so... :)

its too bad that these hamas guys have to take on such a religious tone, being that the PFLP, the PLO, and Fatah are all secularists. I dont think they are going to make anyfriends by making such zelous statements. Dont get me wrong babykilling zionists suck, but couldn't hamas make thier message a little more appealing to the world community?
good by palestinan aid....

I don't blame the Palestinians for voting for those reasons. The unfortunate side-effect of this election though is that it has removed one potentially dangerous gorup for another.

Every time I get the craving for blood, I can usually satisfy it with a refreshing Bloody Mary. Though if we served it to the Palestinians we'd have to make sure the Bloody Mary's are virgin.
^lol, despite the fact I speak the truth there's so much sexual and religious innuendo in that last statement

Hmmm. How long until America changes its mind about supporting democratically elected governments...
