Smunkee's rant........

I think maybe I am not in the most patient mood today, well, let's be honest this week.

My big problem today is that people don't seem to understand the difference between knowledge, wisdom, and intelligence.

I won't name names, but most of these people are IRL so you wouldn't know them anyway.

Knowledge is what a person knows, sometimes refered to as "book smarts", I have more knowledge than my 4 year old.

Intelligence is how well a person can learn, not really how much they know, more how they learn. My 4 year old is more intelligent than me.

Wisdom is more than common sense, it's what you gain by life experience, I am more intelligent, and have more knowledge than my grandfather( who only made it to 3rd grade) but he is far more wise than I am ( and you would expect that from someone who is 80 years old)

so anyway, that's my rant (my shortened version anyway)

what annoys you today?

yeah, I have dealt with my share of them today, had one call me, annoyed that her daddy wouldn't let her date this boy that she "like totally likes a lot" I tried to explain to her that her dad must have a reason for not wanting her to date this guy, that parent's don't just make rules to ruin your life, that he must have some reason..........

she got mad because I wasn't "on her side"

seriously, I am not going to buy her "daddy just doesn't want me to have fun" excuse, she wants me to talk to her dad about it, and I refused, told her to talk to him about it...........

I am glad my kids are under 12..........how exactly can I keep them like that? freeze dry them?

Intelligence is how well a person can learn, not really how much they know, more how they learn. My 4 year old is more intelligent than me.
Many dictionaries define intelligence as the capacity to use reason, in which this should continue to increase with age, as you learn more complex forms of argument and have more information with which to reason.

Heh! It refers to the birthing process. When a child is born, it's covered with amniotic fluid. The nurses dry them off pretty quickly, but supposedly the last place they dry is behind the baby's ears, soooo ... "still wet behind the ears" would mean .... ??? :D

no, that's the last place babies get wiped down, when they are born the nurses wipe down the major areas of thier bodies first, to warm them, when I held my kids they were still "wet behind the ears" even though they had a quick wipe down out of the womb. ;)

(they were still wet between the toes too, maybe that will be a new phrase)

I'm actually in a pretty good mood at the moment, despite a mild case of food poisoning. I was annoyed this morning when my puppy peed on my foot for no apparent reason, but got over that quickly enough... I'm sure something will annoy me by the end of the day though. Usually all it takes is watching the news. ;)

It annoys me when people don't know the difference between "stupid" or "unintelligent" and "ignorant". Ignorace is a condition of having a lack of knowledge. It does not imply a lack of intelligence, just a lack of information.

It also annoys me when people use the word "retarded" as an insult. Retardation is a medical condition, and I wouldn't use it to insult someone who was ignorant or had said something that implied a lack of intelligence any more than I would call a random bald person, "You damn cancer patient!" and laugh about it.

that also annoys me, I suppose it's kinda the flip side of my rant. I am ignorant in so many ways, but don't think I am unintelligent, although I may be stupid for not addressing my ignorance by learning more about the things I am lacking in.

Mononucleosis :(

I've been out of school for about 3 months.

I'm going to have to drop an AP class I have right now and take it next year, and take a different graduation requirement for the rest of the quarter. It'll work out fine, but it'll still suck.

OK, so its just the minor, little things that are annoying me right now (maybe I should just go home and call it a day)

went out for a smoke (I am in the lab at a university) and classes were changing. this girl walking in front of me stops dead in her tracks to pull on her mittens (its snowing like mad outside) and then glares at me when i bump into her on accident. i apologize and get the normal whatever. not my fault you stop dead in your tracks in the middle of a crowded hallway.

I go out the door and hold the door for the person behind me, and end up holding it for a zillion other people. when i finally let go, it smacked some dude because he wasn't paying attention and he gave me a dirty look and called me not a nice name. not my fault you walk through a door and not look where you are going.

while trying to enjoy my smoke in the cold, wet, nasty weather, some chick walks up to me, starts talking about fred astire movies and then bluntly tells me I have no taste in movies or anything when i politely tell her i don't like fred astaire.

and that was just the last 15 min or so. the rest of the day has been equally full of stupidity and annoyances. maybe its the weather. i think i may just pack it in for today and trudge home in the snow...........either that or start chucking snowballs out the lab window.....

This is easy stuff, people.

Knowledge is a skill.

Intelligence affects how many spells you get if you're a wizard.

Wisdom does the same thing, but for druids and clerics.
Hey now, some warrior feats require high intelligence and let us not forget the skill bonuses and saving throws, hmm?
