Eh I just want to get rid of Valentines Day, do that and I'm happy.

One problem, there's not enough of them. It'll never happen.

Though I think that does happen in the Middle East, where they claim it as a "Capitalist American bastard culture" or something. I know Iraq did that in the February before they were invaded.

I always found it rather curious that people need something like Valentine´s Day to be romantic.
"Ew, February the 14th, time to show how much I love you!"
Just as stupid as Mother´s Day and suchlike - either you love, in which case you show it constantly, or you don´t, in which case you... er, don´t.
Needing a certain nation- or world-wide holiday to express emotion is ridiculous, imo.

I agree. /snip/

Let's try that one again... "It sure is convenient to have a day to step things up a level". There! That sounds better. What I had before sounded... wrong.

The separation is between Church and State, not between State and Sex. Or Church and Sex, apparently.

In fact, Sex was the original pursuit in one of the early drafts of the Declaration of Independence.

That´s right, but why should it be a day set by floral entrepreneurs? Why not, dunno, celebrate the day you met your fiancé?

Although, I must admit, it´s quite nifty to have a day where each single feels romantically inclined, therefor easier to convince...
Did I just say that?

I celebrate St. Valentines Day as the anniversary of a mouldy old Saint having his head off, and as the anniversary of seven gangsters being gunned down, by sending Pig's Hearts to my all enemies.
That's right, Mr Smithshewiss, I still remember you stealing my newspaper when I was staying across the hall from you two years ago. And, when you receive my "valentine", you'll remember it too. I will have my revenge as have countless others on this, most holy of days.

I know someone who has no sexual desire.

He still believes in love though.

I don't think so. You can love all the time, but still a reminder to show it in a special way isn't out of place. I would be overweight and athsma-induced if I got chocolate and flowers every day, but once a year is pretty nice. I don't think it's unreasonable to have a day to remind people to think aa bit about the people they care about in a more material way.
