The World Goes Mad! (Stephistan gets her own political radio show)

Stephistan

Yup, you heard me correct folks. I now have my own political radio show on the BZoO Radio Station. And, the fabulous thing is any one can listen to it. It is Internet radio.. all you really need is a high speed connection.

My first show will air tonight at 9 PM (EST) so a little less than under an hour, on BZoO Radio.

As long as you have Windows Media or Winamp you can listen to it.. FREE!

It will at long last put to rest who I really am in real life, as I'm coming out.. using my real name.. (but I'm actually nobody so it won't really make a difference..lol)

To listen to my show, which will run a few times a week on BZoO Radio all you need to do is go to http://www.bzoo.org My show is called "Politically Sound"

I hope all of you who know me, or not will give it a listen, the audio wasn't perfect, but that will improve for next week's show as I have bought all kinds of new state of the art headsets, mics and software.

So the first show is a little green, as it is my first show... but the content is still there.

So please, take the time if you have it to listen to my new political show "Politically Sound" on BZoO Radio. Politically Sound (http://www.bzoo.org)

Peace - Stephanie.

No, the style of the show is very NPR, which I imagine is what she's going for. The ums are a little too much, though. She doesn't just use them when she's searching for a word. She puts them in all the time, in the middle of sentences. It's a nerves thing. Should get better with time.

I think you're possibly being a little harsh. For a first outing, it's fairly good. Definitely a little more control over the obvious verbal tics is called for - it's better with two people discussing rather than one... the audio is patchy, though I believe she mentioned this intially as something recognized and overcome already.

The focus on Canadian politics makes sense given Steph's nationality, but I'll be the first to admit Canadian politics mean very little to anyone outside of Canada for the most part. Changing focus to American politics might keep the non-Canadian listeners' interest...

I do think Steph should try moderating her voice somewhat. Some voice coaching might be in order.

It's very good, but the laughter's too close to the mic and causes the sound levels to jump down and take a bit to renormalize.

Seconded. I'm impressed.

I remember my first radio show; I was scared shitless and could hardly speak at all, so I played 10 songs straight while I tried to work up enough courage to actually say something. :)

no... not the piano playing friend again...

I have enough musician friends. It gets to be a bit much at times.

I don't get as how she's identifying herself as nonpartisan right now, though. She was pretty decidedly partisan in the recent elections.

in recent elections, yes...but what she was saying is that she won't just pick someone because they are a member of the party...if the "other" party offeres a better candidate, then she would, in theory, vote for them.

Vehemently opposing lieing, cheating, neocon scum is not tantamount to partisanship. To say anyone who opposes the neocons in the government is a partisan/liberal/commie is provocative, suppressionary mud slinging designed to belittle your opponent. It is a classic fascist political move.

Neocons being the e.g. crossword puzzle answer to George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, etc, people who make corruption and lieing a way of life.

I want a poster of Jesus holding a machinegun, captioned saying "I'm gonna go get me some infidels!" like they were talking about.

Are there callers on air? Can we have Eut call up so you can yell at each other?

Comedy..... Gold.
Not a bad idea! LOL!

We could do a regular feature: "Shout and counter-shout!" Heh!

BTW ... congrats, Steph. Best of luck! :)

Overall, I enjoyed it.

Towards the end, it got much better...much fewer um's, and having the guest definatly helped.

I would suggest planning what you are going to say when you are going to be talking alone...atleast at first. It is difficult, and that seemed to be your weak point.

Sound, I think you already fixed.

Maybe record the call and show name...there were alot of "um's" and a bit of stutter when you had to say bzoo...so maybe it would be easier if you had that nailed down and concrete every time, and then the only thing you would have to say is "welcome back" or "welcome back to politically sound", then get right back.

Really good first show tho.

I would suggest having more than one musician if you're going to have musical interludes.

Wow, you sounded distrubingly rational. Sort of dissapointing, I expect more dementia in my talk radio, however I suppose it would be good if you were into the whole "news" and "thoughtful discussion" thing.

Agreed, and maybe something that's more in line with the topic at hand, something politically amped, like Rage Against The Machine, perhaps. :)

I imagine, it being unlicenced radio, that there might be legal complications to using copyrighted materials such as that.

So she might be constrained to using independant music, and that certainly seems to be what the station plays on the whole so there might be some format requirements imposed on her also.
