Michelle Kwan

Should Michelle Kwan have petitioned to be in the Olympics?
Should she have been allowed on the team at all?
Do you feel that it was unfair to other competitors for her to have been allowed on the team?

I've been hearing a lot about this, and wondered what others thought.

(forgive me for not setting this up as a poll, but I can't quite figure out how it's done, besides, I really prefer discussion - polls tend to be too black and white and leave out a lot of options

She's getting a bit old, isn't she? I wanted to be her when I was younger. *cough*

I do not know the extent of her injury, nor when she sustained it.

-If she was healthy or almost recovered when she petitioned to be allowed on the U.S. team, then injured herself recently in training, I am fine with it.

-However, if she was seriously injured and asked to be on the team knowing that she may not be healthy for the olympics- she was wrong.

-Or, if she injured herself after asking to be on the team, but still with enough time for someone else to take her spot, then she was wrong.

She thought she was healthy enough to compete. When she decided she was wrong she stepped down and was replaced by another. I see nothing wrong with her having confidence that she'd be fine for the Olympics. Now Emily Hughes (her replacement) will get her chance.

True, I wasn't thinking of naked female shotputters. But the again I try not to, unless I have an unfortunately timed bout of tumescence (either them or a naked Margaret Thatcher works equally well).

But in Summer olympics there is beach volleyball and syncronised swimming. Two majorly important advances in the civilisation of the human race.

in the summer olympics they also wear a lot less fabric.

but seriously, if you have the internet with a gazillion porn sites, what do you need the olympics for?

Michelle Kwan? Who cares. I frankly was more upset over Zack Lund, a U.S. skeleton racer who was banned for a year of international competition because he used Propecia for hair loss, had used it for three years prior to being banned, and had continually reported his using of it before it was decided to be a masking agent for streoids a few months prior to the Olympics. Even the IOC said he wasn't a cheater, though that probably gives him little solace now.
