Debate Politics on a Political Website?

Hi. I run the New York College Republican State Committee Website (before you hiss just hear me out). A long time ago I spent hours on setting up a phpBB2 messageboard for the state with the hope of thousands upon thousands of hits. I have barely recieved any. In the months that it has been operational I've had 88 articles, very weak.

On this forum I have a debating forum and I would like to invite people to please come there and debate politics (maybe it'll get these people busy and off their asses and posting). Please read the rules though and stay mature but debate until you are blue in the face. Trash Bush, applaud Bush. Republicans, democrats, conservatives, liberals, Americans, non-Americans, come one come all.

Thank You for Hearing Me Out

Sorry, I don't have the time. I trust that you wouldn't toss people who disagree, because you've never been that type of person here, so I'm not worried that it would be a Free Republic type of place.

But really, the only reason I'm on here tonight instead of grading papers is because my email is down--I can only get a handful of sites, and wouldn't you know it, this is one. Can't get google, can't get any blogs, but I can get this--and my students' papers are in my g-mail box. Whatcha gonna do?

Man I never expected everyone to wuss out. I figured that people would jump at the opportunity to poke fun at Republicans in their own domain. I'm a little disappointed.

Boo hoo, you have to click a few links JMC. You're finger won't break.

Layarteb you should worry more about your study in Chuckianity, less about debates.

Can't even get to that--there's some kind of fucked up outage here. I get this place, the NY Times, MSNBC and that's about it. It's the weirdest outage I've ever seen.

Minoritee, LOL!

Bumpy bump...Why? Because I still think there are people here that wouldn't mind off-site debating with College Republians. Come on, you get to trash Bush and watch people cry that you are doing it.

If I may offer some advice. You need to cut out alot of the categories, and slimline it a bit. In my opinion, there is no need for a forum for each chapter. It only serves to divide, instead of uniting the party. that, and no one has posted there.

When people see empty forums, they assume the forum sucks, and they move on. Any forum that's empty needs to be deleted, and a few need to be merged, in order to get a larger post count, giving the effect of making it look more popular, and by default, people will be more likely to post.

Just my 2 cents. ;)

No offense to your forum that seems to have a good amount of potential to it, but if I wanted to debate with College Republicans, I'd at least do it at my own college with my own Republicans, because when you're staring a person in the face it makes it a lot harder to ignore their viewpoints and pass them off as an idiot or mass-Googler.

No you are quite right. The chapter idea might not be plausible but it was an idea. It still hasn't been fully implemented yet.
