US to emulate Eurovision contest

A US music competition based on the Eurovision Song Contest is being developed by American network NBC.
The programme is intended to challenge American Idol, a ratings winner which is screened on rival network Fox.

A grand final with a singing representative from each US state and public voting is planned.

"Eurovision is the granddaddy of all talent shows and the Super Bowl of singing," said Ben Silverman, chairman of series producers Reveille.

God... will someone please tell him what the Eurovision is really about!? PLEASE!?

Don't let this seed of Satan be born- for music lovers everywhere- I BEG YOU!!

Kitsch.

People laugh about it and have a few hours of entertainment. I don't enjoy it, some do. And if they think they can make money from it...hehe, that's the downside of Capitalism.

Even with tremendous amounts of alcohol, Eurovision Song Contest is hard to watch!

On a second thought - maybe it's exactly what the US needs?

This is what gets me though...
The Eurovision Contest has been running for 50 years and helped to launch the careers of Swedish pop group Abba and Canadian singer Celine Dion, both of whom were winners.

Yeah, i'm sure the world 'thanks' the Eurovision for releasing Celine Dion onto the world :p :D

Okay, that does it. The producers should be cat-o-nine-tailed, drawn, quartered, and hung.

The next show I want to see would be like that Swan show but instead it should be who looks the hottest after a sex change. now THAT will be a popular show.

To lenient.

Force them to listen to Celine Dion for one day straight. They'll be begging for death by 3 o'clock.

If you meant me I wasn't joking. I'd really love to see a show like that. I normally hate reality shows, but that would get my attention.

US to emulate Eurovision contest:eek:

HAHA! The plot thickens! You see, everything that has transpired has done so according to our design. Your friends, up there in that network, are walking into a trap. It was *I* who allowed the NBC to know the location of quality music. Don't worry, they will not find anything of quality where they are looking. It is quite safe from that pitiful little network. An entire legion of my best troops awaits them, including clones of Celine Dion and ABBA! Oh, I'm afraid all the good shows will be purged from television when your 'friends' arrive with this American Song Contest. :D

World domination is within our grasp! Soon, the time will be right...

Too effective. It would be inhumane....

Why didn't they do that in G.Bay? Screw playing Metallica, maybe some detainees already loved 'Whiskey in the Jar' and 'Enter Sandman'....

..now Celine Dion on the other hand..... damn.

Would it not be effective? Are you sure the people that brought Celine Dion to life would honestly mind listening to her? I mean I also have the theory that anyone who listens to gangster rap is doing it out of masochism, but I've never found any supporting evidence...

The only thing that makes the Eurovision good is reading Terry Wogans sardonic speakings in the papers the next day.. and the US shall never have Terry Wogan, never.

I come from the same province that Celine Dion, and here's why she made an international carreer: we didn't want to suffer any torture anymore without hurting other people too :D

Now that she "sing" at Las Vegas, we nearly never hear about her. Mission Acomplished
