I guess you'll have to stop beheading birds and drinking their blood now. ;)

Heh, yeah, I should have that one lying around somewhere, too.

But, eh, it's not like we didn't know this was coming, is it now? Or like we can do anything about it now that it has.

Well, they found another couple of dead birds here in HK last week. One was found at a school but even more worrying was a dead chicken with the virus found left at the dump.
Another person died in China last week, bringing the official total to 8 (meaning officially it has a kill rate of 2/3). After what happened with SARS (the Chinese govt refused to admit to even one case for months, allowing it to spread rapidly) I'm assuming that if they're actually having to admit it's happening, it's happening in a major, serious way.
Before Xmas, a WHO doctor came out of China and said it was widespread and endemic. At that time the Chinese authorities were saying 8 confirmed cases and 5 deaths. This WHO doctor (and what does he have to gain by lying?) said it was well over 100 and climbing. Local Doctors were threatened with arrest and imprisonment if they reported any cases.

The Chinese govt is still denying it's a problem, and have rubbished the recent report that came out saying the H5N1 virus originated in China over 10 years ago. An official said it could have come from anywhere before being found in China.

I should be the most worried out of everyone here!

Hopefully they'll close the schools but I'll still get paid. :)

woah... 20 cases... which where only in birds in a sub-continent with a population of 450 million.

*continues to not eat poultry... mainly because it's cheap stuff pumped full of water. Considers not buying any more eggs, but remains remarkably unconcerned and continues to distrust every word to emerge from lips of Patricia Hewitt*

Since when has the ministry of Health ever told us the truth. They just fob us off with lies in the hope that the public doesn't panic.

Time for everyone to put paper bags over their heads, lay down, and prepare to die.

Get in the business of selling those little hospital masks. I'm sure there'll be enough crazy people to make that profitable.

Don't worry, when I come down with a human transmittable version of the virus, I'll be sure to sneeze all over you.

Because the Chinese are doing such a wonderful job of preventing the flu. Look at their track record!

Prophylaxis for Bird Flu:

1. As soon as symptoms appear, assume a wide stance, legs apart, feet planted firmly on the floor/ground.

2. Reach down and grip your knees.

3. Bend slowly forward, sliding your hands around behind your knees.

4. Grip firmly.

5. Place head between legs by bending double.

6. Kiss your ass goodbye.

That's because they don't care. All the important people know the secret, and look forward to laughing along with me.

Granted, many peasants must die. But china has been looking into that for some time anyway.
