Wayne Gretzky, one of Canada's most beloved sports icons, a man who rewrote the record books in the NHL,who through his long and storied career has never so much had a whiff of scandal, has suddenly become the focal point of a gambling scandal that involves his assistant coach, a New Jersey State Trooper and strangely enough his wife Janet Jones http://cbc.ca/sports/My Question is this, is he guilty of lying about his involvement or can he explain why prosecutors say what he said on wiretap.Say it ain't so Wayne!

I don't think he's guilty. I don't think you get to the position he's in, with the character he's displayed, to ruin it in such a way. His wife I don't know about, nor Rick Tocchet, but I don't think Wayne has the capacity to disappoint millions of past and present kids who hung on his every breakaway. I hope I'm right.

The fact that the media is making Wayne the focal point of their stories has no correlation to any position in the investigation itself does it? Besides aparently being married to a gambling addict.... which I don't think is a crime.

Perhaps in the Court of Public Opinion.

It's a demonstration of Kharma. Anyone who is that bad at acting, yet continually plagues society with lame attempts, deserves some scandal. Paris Hilton sex tapes? Nasty Jessica Simpson divorce? Wayne Gretzky Mafia gambling ring? I sense a pattern...

It's just one of those things about the way we are as a society. We love to see the powerful and the sucessful torn down, it's dramatic, and its entertaining. I can't help but feel bad for The Great One here. To quote Wayne, quoting Bart Simpson; "I didn't do it."

It certainly has taken the spotlight of Rick Tocchet, who will most likely be convicted as one of the leaders of the bookkeeping operation.I think that Wayne is guilty of nothing more then lying for his wife, i'd probably do the same.I only hope that it doesn't distract the Olympic team from winning the Gold.
