You've probably already heard about this, but there is a new film out in Turkey called 'Valley of the Wolves' which comes as a response to US troops arresting Turkish commandos in Iraq. It basically seems to be an attempt to take some of the headlines from the Iraq war and portray them in the worst light possible. Highlights include: Kill Bill-esqe Wedding massacre and a Jewish-American doctor who harvests organs to sell to the west. Looks edifying stuff!

Well.. I suppose it is fair, considering how the muslems are often portrayed in western movies...

Pity they probably won't show it in Ireland...

Meh. doesn't bother me, it's just a movie. Those who want to see a movie will come away with a movie. Those who want to see more into it, and who have a propensity for violence, won't lose any love for the US anyways.

Free speech is a wonderful thing. Let them make their movies. We'll make ours.

I heard of this.Looks like Billy Zane may be out of a job in Hollywood. They kinda have isues with the millitary being portrayed in a bad light unless of course their the ones doing it doing it.As for the doctor cutting out organs.Did he really have to be jewish american. The religion aspect is only there to incite hatred.Sounds like the Rambo movie set in Afghanistan from another angle.Just propaganda and probably not very good propaganda.

What about Gary Busey?
can't believe they took the chances with their careers. They are either very brave or very stupid.Hollywood is a fickle place. This will either make them rebels/superstars or unemployed

If you like film from the muslim world you really can't go wrong with a classic like Baran. The Iranians have some pretty good directors.Too bad there in Iran.

Muslims are never protrayed this inhumanly in American movies.
Anyway, no one could accuse the Turks of trying to make good movies *coughTuristOmarcough*, so this is hardly unexpected.

Blockbuster? If it wasn't posted on a forum for debating extreme politics, I wouldn't have even heard of it. :p

If they were, there'ld be rioting in the streets. I recall protests about the "portrayals" in the cartoon "Alladin"

They also give Germany 12 Points in the Eurovision Song Contest every year.

I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

True. Then again, the number of movies made in America depicting muslems in a somewhat negative way vastly outnumbers the number of arab movies demonising Americans.
Not sure of "it adds up" is really valid here though.

Name them.
The fact is, Hollywood is very sensitive about stepping on people's toes, and so they'd never be able to churn out enough anti-Arab propaganda to make the scales even.

I think that film sounds really funny, I want to see it. I like a no-brain action film with over the top violence. And it'll make an amusing change to see US soldiers portrayed like the SS. And a Jewish doctor cutting out innocent civilians' organs, I love it! Why didn't they to the whole way and have the soldiers eating babies?

There's True Lies, for one.
