Thought this up after the "2nd Most Powerful Nation" topic.
I'd probably help Germany win WWI. And not only for patriotic reasons. Many of today's major problems can be directly or indirectly blamed on Versailles.

Well, I would bet a lot of money on things like a German victory at the 1956 World Cup.
Then I would have a good long talk with Bismarck and explain to him what happened in the future. Then he could make up his mind.
Alternatively, I'm afraid to say that I agree with the OP...the world would probably have been slightly better off if Germany had won the war. There were even plans for a proto-EU if Germany had won. :D

I actually liked Germany ( WWI Germany) and dont really think of them as evil, just the opposition. In fact, if America hadnt fought against Germany, I would have supported the Germans.

And imagine the paradox it would create if I had a bunch of scientists try and predict what would happen before I did it.
Really, if I killed my own grandfather, I would not exist, and thus I could not have killed my own grandfather, so I would exist, so I could kill my grandfather... and the paradox cycle continues.

Having Germany win WWI is not good either, as its not even possible. Sure, both sides suffered from "exhaustion" however, Germany's economy could not keep up with the UK and the USA. No matter what, they would have lost. Unless, of course, you change history. Ugh.

See that's the point: It's not true.
The UK wasn't really any bigger than Germany to start with, and the blockade really hurt them for a while, not to forget that Britain had to get an army from a smaller population.
If Operations Michael and Georgette had succeeded, Germany would have won the war. It's that simple - and don't think the US would've bothered fighting on if it was all alone. Not in 1918.

Then German troops would've outnumbered the Allies at the Marne (which I would also have forseen), the Germans would win and take Paris, and the war would be over.

See that's the point: It's not true.
Historial bantering aside, if Germany had won, its not clean-cut "no WWII" groovy.
My opinion is, we'd actually be worse off. Economically, socially, and techonologically. The only thing is, that's so subjective, its not really worth arguing. We can't predict alternate history.
In general, this is running on my knowledge that the German state in the early 20th century, economically speaking, was much more centralized than that of the UK or the USA. This would cut down on initiative to invent, social progression (and by this I mean to a more liberal flavour), and that we would not be as wealthy as we are today (health wise, knowledge wise, and materially speaking). That, coupled with a rather strong monarchy controlling Europe for a longer period of time, is something that would really mess with the world as we know it. Certainly Russia would be invaded as the Reds and Whites squabbled.
On top of that, I perhaps wouldn't be me. My forefather's possibly would not be able to immigrate to America from Poland.

I'm no specialist, but I'm not sure about this. Bismarck had begun a program for social security for poor people, but generally, Germany was quite laissez-faire. 'Cuz Otto really didn't like Socialists.
The defence industry was run by large families like the Thyssens, the Krupps and so on.

I'm not exactly certain either, nor am I a specialist, but Bismark also inacted a program to keep the tumb on Poles. I just don't like the idea.
Is that a double negative, in the sentence above?
It would be totally feasable that Germany reverted to a more centralized planning under the Great War, like the States and Britain, only the Allies were blessed with a more robust economy or their initiatives were more effective. There's too many variables. I'm hungry too.
We'll discuss this another time. :)

Canada would win the Space Race, and maybe Trotsky would become the leader of the USSR instead of Stalin. Which would probably prevent the Space Race from happenning.
What would you change if you could go back in time? What means do I get at my disposal to change history?
Can I take a modern army division back with me?
Even just a tank would help out immensely and several eras.
I suppose eventually I'd end up ruling the roman empire for about at least 1500 years, maybe even into the modern age.
Yes, I know time travel doesn't make you immortal. However you can skip ten years every now and then if everything is running smooth, and if someone screwed up, you can just move back to when your presence was required.
I suppose while I'm at it, I might as well take over Chinese empire as well.

What would you change if you could go back in time? after much thought... go back to the Garden of Eden and prevent Eve from taking that bite. oh, and I'll behead a serpent or two...
seriously tho... probably go back and get the autographs of our founding Fathers... then give them a little heads up as to the State of the Union 200 years after they die. I will, of course, take proof that I am from the future by bringing some minor tech items, as well as a history book.
then I would collect as much documents as possible. including money, Franklin's papers as well as carvings and artwork.
then I would hop forwards, monitoring the changes the founding fathers made after my 'lecture of things the future holds,' and constantly moving the 'stash' to different locations and collecting more, untill I'm back in the present, then I would sell the stuff and live off the money made selling those rare and mint condition historical artifiacts.

WWI wasn't about "the vile Imperialism of the Hun", it was about Austria and Russia making a big deal about Serbia.

Actually, you're right (sorry, CK).
I googled for a bit, and turns out, there's a dozen different phrases floating around (mainly because it's pretty well-known & used, often in newspaper articles etc.), all slightly different, but all saying the same thing. But the original one by Friedrich II is this (http://de.wikiquote.org/wiki/Friedrich_II.,_der_Gro%C3%9Fe):
"Die Religionen müssen alle toleriert werden und der Fiskus muss nur das Auge darauf haben, dass keine der anderen Abbruch tue, denn hier muss ein jeder nach seiner Façon selig werden."
The above is a direct translation from the original language/spelling of the time: "Die Religionen Müsen alle Tolleriret werden und mus der fiscal nuhr das auge darauf haben das keine der andern abruch Tuhe, den hier mus ein jeder nach Seiner Faßon Selich werden." Don't use this one, though! It'll just make people think you're a really bad speller...
The use of "muss" (= "must"; "has to") in this context sounds rather strange/counterintuitive to our modern ears, hence why it's usually changed into "möge" (= "may") or "soll" (= "shall").
