They have to be reasonably attractive (sorry, looks DO matter to me), but also be intelligent (not necessarily gradewise, just have to know random things about random topics), and keep up the other end of a conversation. Sense of humor is appreciated, but not class clown-ish. If I can talk to a guy without feeling like I'm doing all the talking, that's awesome.

Non-negotiable character traits: Intelligence, wit, good conversation, faithfulness, sincerity, some common interests, non-religious, similar political opinions. Negotiable physical traits: Glasses, tall, slightly chubby, generally a bit nerdy/professorial looking.

I'll totally just copy & paste from my Perfect Guy (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=466396) thread the other day. I'm shameless like that. :p

Must have/be:
- intelligent
- ready wit & self-deprecating sense of humor
- a "good person", i.e. no mean, jerky, asshole tendencies
- politically left-leaning
- sharing my love for & taste in movies (okay, that one's negotiable. But not by much.)

Icing on the cake:
- nice, longish hair, preferably dark blond; preferably with green, grey, or blue eyes
- Good nose. Think Adrien Brody, just - less. :D
- Sexy forearms. Veined, little hair. (What?)
Of course, the only fling I ever had that actually looked like that, had none of the important qualities and thus stayed just that - a fling. :p

I am not a lady, but from my observations where I live, women want a man who is a bit of a wanker, looks like a cross between boy george and jason donovan, and will cheat on them at every opportunity. They all calim to want a smart kind funny guy but when it comes down to it a guy that acts like a stupid dick and got dressed in the dark always wins. it pisses me off.

Infact, that really skinny gimp from road trip, combined with stiffler, seems to be what women want.

Because of my current situation, I'd have to say that the first thing I look for in a guy is that he's not into my backstabbing best friend. (Bitter?)

With that out of the way, the next thing would be genuine. I don't like people who put on airs and pretend to be someone else. A sense of humor is good, but not loud attention-grabbing obnoxious humor, more like wit. Not over sensitive, but not completely heartless either. Honest is good, but honest and tactful is better. And I know it's harsh, but looks do count. Although it may make some of you feel better to know that perfection makes me a little nauseous, so Brad Pitt types are out, odd as it may sound. And I know quite a lot of girls who feel the same way. Unique quirks are always cool. It doesn't hurt to play an instrument (it's possible that I have a small bass fetish).

Just be open, honest, and yourself. If you happen to be kind of creepy, I'm sure there's someone out there who's into that. Being fake will get you nowhere. That's my main thing.

Realizing that I'm fairly traditional, my man must:

- Have "straight edge" qualities, but doesn't act straight edge. i.e. doesn't smoke (or is trying not to), tries not to cuss, doesn't do drugs (period).
- Be Christian (pretty much mandatory)
- Love music and concerts
- Be a camping, fishing, hunting, paintball person
- Like the occasional video game (preferably not just sports, halo, or GTA. Other games like Tony Hawk, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, We (heart) Katamari, things like that)
- Listens to me when I open up to him and in-turn opens up to me so I can listen to him
- Be able to handle my sarcasm (very important)
- Be able to start and continue a conversation (I'm not even asking for it to be intelligent, but if you want brownie points that is a good way)
- Make the first move (I've done this before and it has always ended horridly)
- Be waiting till marriage (you know what I mean)

Obviously my standards must be too high, or I'm just too stupid or something because I've never had a boyfriend....ever... and I was home schooled up until high school so I never ever got one of those one-week middle school relationships.

Not all of them. And I didn't like the Matrix much (Though i've only seen the first two). But if i'm going to watch movies, I usually see stupid ones that at least make me laugh. Or stupid gory ones like Saw II. Movies that try and be serious usually fail, there's only a few that come to mind that I really liked. Hahaha. I like SOME serious movies. I like A Clockwork Orange and 2001: A Space Oddysee a lot. Kubrick is cool.

I'm not really a movie person. I'd rather sit back and mellow out with good music or read. *shrugs*

Generally though, when watching a movie, I like to sit back and get drunk with friends and laugh. Stupid movies are good for it. I don't like to think all of the time.

EDIT- I have a feeling I need to regain some lost credibility: Anything with Hugh Grant or Julia Roberts is automatically shite, Jim Carrey annoys the hell out of me (hence why I haven't even seen Dumb and Dumber), Ewan McGregor movies (with the exception of Trainspotting) automatically suck - I saw "Stay" last year and I still have no idea what it was on about, Matthew Broderick movies give you cancer, Leonardo Di Craprio must die, and the only way Vin Diesel would win any acting credibility in my eyes is if he was cast as Smeagol in the LoTR movies. :p

Guys have to be big, strong, testosterone-laden, tatoo-covered, clean-shaved MEN.

I appreciate a good sense of humour, think skin, left-wing attitude, contempt for religion, initiative, imagination, personal pride, a strong work ethic, being well read, and an IQ within 10 points of my own.

And of course, the guy must be willing go along with my random nature. Would be nice to meet someone as impulsive as muself, but I've given up hoping for that.'

I think women are honest about what they want in a guy, but not completely honest. Women will agree what they want in a guy is someone that's intelligent, honest, and has a good sense of humor, which is true, but what they are holding out on is they want to start with someone that has none of these and mold these characteristics into them, so that way, when they do have the intelligent, honest and good-sense-of-humor guy they always wanted, they can be happy because they made him that way.

My ideal guy:

(I prefer older guys J )

Physically
-Tall. Tall as in preferably over 6’ (being that I’m only 5’2”ish most guys are taller then I am)
-Dark hair. I like longer dark hair, black is excellent, but dark brown is good too.
-Green or blue eyes. I have a thing for dark haired guys with green eyes
-Darker complexion OR quite pale
-Slender, but defined. I’m not a fan of really muscular guys.

Personality/Misc…
-Spontaneous
-Affectionate (seeing as how I’m a very affectionate person)
-Can carry on a good conversation
-WANTS to experience new things
-Well-educated
-Knows when to take something seriously and when to joke about
-Multi-lingual
-Loves to cook
-Witty
-Intelligent. I need someone I can talk to about work (doctor) who won’t be completely lost.
-Has a great sense of humour, and isn’t afraid to laugh at themselves
-Having an accent is a major plus :). (Though I think "East Coast" accents are WAY hot...heh)
-Loves to travel
-Enjoys living in the city
-Likes to OR is willing to dance (I've been a ballet dancer for almost 18 years, I need someone who loves to dance as much as I do)
-Plus, nerds are also really sexy! :)

It is a tricky question all right, as even a guy that meets all the criteria may not be considered for some reason or another.

But to me, I like creative people. People who a fast and unique thinkers, who can turn a situation on the head with one word or gesture. People who have a sense of humour, preferably one that goes well with my own.
And yes, looks are important to some extend. He just can't be shorter than me (I'm 1.63m, so that doesn't really happen all that often anyway). He can't look scruffy or have bad hygene... he can be a field worker or a punk, as long as he washes and pays some attention to his looks. If he's chubby, that's a definite plus.

Other than that, I think I would have serious problems with right-wingers, convinced Christians, or military people.

Oh, I almost forgot the main thing : He needs patience. Enormous amounts of it. Patience enough to get me interested in him, and even more patience to put up with me then.

I maintain that the first American Pie movie was funny though. Deuce Bigalow was okay-ish, but I only saw the first one. Eh. TBH, I don't care about cinematography and how it moved me emotionally as long as I enjoy the goddamn movie.

Anyway, I said you passed, not graduated with flying colours. Like I said, Vin Diesel and Jim Carrey are both twits and I hate the Matrix. Um, Jim Carrey was in Dumb and Dumber, right? Or am I thinking about someone else? Nevermind.

lol.

- snip The Horror! The Horror! :p -

Hehe. I just overslept like crazy, and my brain right now is half sleepy mush, half adrenaline - and the first thing I read is more Vin Diesel and Deuce Bigalow. Are you trying to kill me? :p

Anyway, this is some slight satisfaction: Eh. I'm the type of person who sees a movie with friends, and at the end comments on it being a decent movie, and am then subjected to a lengthy discussion of why i'm an idiot and the movie was in fact, crap. Hehe, I like your friends. ;)

Seriously, though, this:TBH, I don't care about cinematography and how it moved me emotionally as long as I enjoy the goddamn movie.
is obviously totally fine. I mean, not that I understand it one bit, heh, but eh, to each his own. Just because I'm a movie person doesn't exactly require the rest of the world to be, too. I'd still think they're crazy, but I'd never say it out loud to their face :D. j/k

sarcasm or not, i love that movie, and i probably have seen it at least... ooh... 50 times while at uni (if you're ever stoned out your brain and don't know what to put on, i advise that movie cos it is freaking hilarious! :p)

:D

Exactly, I just brought it up to give you a chance to gloat. That's how nice I am! :p

lol! thank you, too kind :fluffle: ;)

Aaahhhhh, I should totally have removed the forearms bit; there they're going again with the fetish thing... And, just for the record, those are not bad! Not bad at all! :) And of course I know it's you, dummy, you think I didn't see that thread? Although I like your hair longer. :)

doesn't look like anybody else is picking on you for it... i'm just being facetious because its fun :p

though i can now sleep soundly at night knowing that my forearms pass the whereyouthinkyougoing test ;)

a few of my friends, "movie buffs", take every opportunity they can to remind me my dvd collection is utter crap :D
(but it nearly all makes me laugh so... thats my qualifier for a good movie)

My ideal guy:

(I prefer older guys J )

Physically
-Tall. Tall as in preferably over 6’ (being that I’m only 5’2”ish most guys are taller then I am) J
-Dark hair. I like longer dark hair, black is excellent, but dark brown is good too.
-Green or blue eyes. I have a thing for dark haired guys with green eyes
-Darker complexion OR quite pale
-Slender, but defined. I’m not a fan of really muscular guys.

Personality/Misc…
-Spontaneous
-Affectionate (seeing as how I’m a very affectionate person)
-Can carry on a good conversation
-WANTS to experience new things
-Well-educated
-Knows when to take something seriously and when to joke about
-Multi-lingual
-Loves to cook
-Witty
-Intelligent. I need someone I can talk to about work (doctor) who won’t be completely lost.
-Has a great sense of humour, and isn’t afraid to laugh at themselves
-Having an accent is a major plus :). (Though I think "East Coast" accents are WAY hot...heh)
-Loves to travel
-Enjoys living in the city
-Likes to OR is willing to dance (I've been a ballet dancer for almost 18 years, I need someone who loves to dance as much as I do)
-Plus, nerd are also really sexy! :)

You left one out. I'll add it for you.

-Goes by the user name Cluichstan. :D

Some NS females like a guy who sprinkles conversation with words like "noob" and "ownage". At least, they like to laugh at them. :p

I like a guy who is smart, and really cares about life. I don't want a guy who wants to be in charge of me. I drink no achol, or anything like that. He can't stop me from doing what I chose as a caree, if I want to join the military; I don't want him to even try to talk me out of. He has got to be ready to just pack up and leave and always wanting to go on the adventure of his life time.
I will be honest though, I don't date and I don't want to, so a guy better really impress me.
