Double standard? This whole thing has nothing to do with religious outrage. It's a political statement.

Ok, so if I boycott Egypt that means what? No more dates and sand?

Normally I agree, but this looks pretty legit to me. Hard to argue with a picture like this. (http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7353/1246/1600/Alfagerpage17right.3.jpg)

You're right, it is hard to argue. 'Cause the link doesn't work.

Seriously, just because a blog has pretty pictures doesn't mean it's a reliable source of news information. There's too much of a chance of personal bias in it, as it's run by individuals, not the media itself.

Link doesn't work. And half my clothes are made in Egypt. They make pretty nice suits over there. When I lived in Manchester, quite a lot of the groceries I bought originated in Iran. I do however avoid products of Israeli origin. ;)

Since this thread is about a boycott of a certain nation for certain reasons, lets see how many NS nations would boycot Egypt but not Cuba.

Cuba, where as I keep posting, if you disagree with any government policy you can be harassed by organized pro government mobs, there are native political prisoners, and thousands of people a year leave on rafts and anything that floats across 90 miles of shark infested waters, including some of my own family members have done this.

I have family who have been political prisoners,
Balseros-raft persons others have emigrated legally including myself.

Quit trying to threadjack, please. You could start your own thread for that very viable discussion if you like. I'll play along there.

Just a comparison observation.

I promise I wont post on this Thread again, OK.

Oh, I don't care if you post in this thread, but an economic embargo on Cuba as opposed to a national boycott for Egypt, or lack thereof, as the OP simply wants us to personally boycott, isn't the type of discussion made for a thread like this. Like I said, that would probably flourish in its own thread, but there just seems to be no direct grounds for it in here. Nothing personal at all, I assure you.

I'm not suggesting anyone here boycott Egypt. I'm suggesting Mulims do it. They repriinted the danish cartoons back in October and no one seemed to mind then. And the newspaper refuses to apologize. Hell, I like that. I'm gonna buy Egyptian and Danish now. :)

Oh, seemed to me you were trying to suggest a boycott of Egypt.

You know the Muslims won't, though, mostly because....well, a good many would be boycotting their own country. They'd be much better to simply boycott the paper, or get the people responsible removed.

Am I the only one who views the Islamic boycott of Danosh goods as fairly futile?

"Oh no! The muslim demand for our beer and bacon will plummit!"

The Islamic world is boycotting licorice? The Danish economy will crumble under the terrible strain!

When beer and bacon is all you make...

My understanding is the Danish market in Saudi Arabia alone accounts for $2 billion USD in trade for Denmark.

That Arabic statement reads in Arabic Transliteration -

Maghhat Jasat Dajal Al-Adad
--

I learned to read the Qu'ran in Arabic.

"Special" in Arabic is "Khas", so you can see now.

Edit - Also, that article just could be about how Denmark made those cartoons.

In no way does that statment say "Ramadan" considering that Ramadan is an Arabic Word (derived from the traditional Arabic word - Ramida).

So that English Translation is false.
I guess I'm missing your point...

Denmark and a host of other European nations are having their embassys burned, their goods boycotted and their natiosn and their lives threatened fr doing exactly the same thing that this Egyptian newspaper did. Printing cartoon images of Mohammed. In this case they also happen to be the exact same images. I just am waiting for the Islamic world to start burning Egyptian emabasies and threatening to cut the heads off of the people at the Egyptian newspaper.

Well, we'll need to know the reason why they reprinted it rather than using blogs as sources.

Makes absolutely no difference why the printed it. The Muslim world's objection to the cartoons was that they were printed at all. According to them no one should ever make an image of Mohammed. That's the stated reason for the protests, at least. Most of the Europan papers reprinted it because they were reporting on the story and they are now being threatened with bombs and beheadings and boycotts.

The only reason the Danish newspaper printed them was to make the point that Muslim threats are hurting freedom of the press in Denmark. Think they were right?
