Discuss your favorite foods here...
if i could plan my final week of meals, i'd eat a little bit of a lot of things:
Monday lunch: Philly cheese steak, fries and mayo-based pasta salad
Monday dinner: canneloni, smothered in mozzarella and sauce, with real french bread.
Tuesday lunch: sausage pizza (Chicago-style deep dish)
Tues dinner: rib-eye steak, medium rare with mashed pot(atoes), cherry pie for dessert
Wednesday lunch: fried chicken tenderloins basted with buffalo sauce, with blue cheese sauce... steak fries, small salad on the side.
Wed dinner: steak taco, steak burrito with lettuce, tomato, cheddar (or mont jack), guac, salsa and sour cream
Thurs lunch: my macaroni and cheese (posted it here a while ago)
Thurs dinner: sesame chicken served over lo mein; ben & jerry's chocolate fudge brownie ice cream for dessert
Friday lunch: jumbo gyro (year-o!), with plenty of tsatziki (sp?) sauce
Fri dinner: an Indian chicken dish, over saffron rice, with lots of curry sauce and nam (or nan) bread
Sat lunch: baked ham, mashed pot, the Ex's cheese/asparagus casserole
Sat dinner: Nick's (here in nashville) baked ziti -- loaded with ricotta, french garlic bread on the side
Sun lunch: ribs, fries, slaw
Sun dinner: chicken marsala, small chef salad/blue cheese, creme brulee for dessert
something like that.

having lasagne tonight, myself... which i may or may not cook. i prefer my lasagne to my mum's (mine is totally more rich and intense... but also simpler...mm its good!) but it depends whether i can be bothered to cook or not.
overall favourite things though?
roast chicken with stuffing, roast spuds and all the trimmings
fish n chips
my mum's meatballs and pasta dish
spag bolognese
lasagne!
bbq ribs
chinese food (could make a whole other list there...)
chicken tikka massala or a nice madras
pumpkin-seed bread toasted cheese sandwiches (got a mix of the right bread, ham and cheese now so its fucking awesome :D)

i love bolognese sauce!
(also like everything else on your list... and i think you named my heretofore unnamed Indian dish... chicken tikka massala sounds familiar. if it has orange/red curry sauce and is served over rice, then that's the one. hehe)
there was a place on State Street in Madison, WI called Gino's (not to be confused with the million other establishments in the US called Gino's)... they served a scrumptious tortellini bolognese... just great.

spag bolognese
YES!
i love bolognese sauce!
as do i! i love cooking (really enjoy it :)) and that was pretty much the first thing i learned how to do a couple of years back when i started being interested in cooking. nowadays i have my recipe honed and pretty much perfected to my taste :D
i boast about it a lot (i've never known anyone to give it a grade below 'fucking delicious!') and have now been challenged by two people in a bolognese cook-off over the summer... i'll let you know how i get on :P
(i posted my recipe for it on here once... i'll see if i can find it)
(also like everything else on your list... and i think you named my heretofore unnamed Indian dish... chicken tikka massala sounds familiar. if it has orange/red curry sauce and is served over rice, then that's the one. hehe)
yup thats the one. tomato-based sauce, creamy... quite unique taste (i often order it at restaurants to gague and compare them against each other:D)
luckily my dad used to be marketing and product development manager for sharwoods (who make loads of home-cooking curry sauces here in the UK), so i get to learn a lot about curry... i know quite a lot of theoretical stuff but my practical cooking never turns out right :(
need more practice...
but you don't get too much indian food there in the states do you? not as popular as it is over here (or so i understand)
there was a place on State Street in Madison, WI called Gino's (not to be confused with the million other establishments in the US called Gino's)... they served a scrumptious tortellini bolognese... just great.
ooh tortellini... nice thinking :)
personally i just love bolognese with campellini (angel's hair spaghetti) cos its just so much more delacate... but sometimes penne works well too (especially for that meatballs and pasta dish i said earlier)

Loaded fries- french fries with cheese, bacon, chives, sour cream. :D
oh, and my fried chicken, my chicken fried steak, my chili, my meatloaf..........I think I like my own cooking too much. :p
Some good taste in this thread!
I also love to cook. I've lived in the American south and in Hawaii, and a lot of my pet dishes are a combination of southern and oriental flavors.
(Chicken tikka masala is one of my favorite restaurant dishes... would love to find a good recipe to make at home!)
The meals I love cooking most for us are:
Turkey & stuffing casserole + Escalloped celery + Apple cherry crisp
Pizza chili + Veggie sticks & peanut butter dipping sauce + Snickers cake
Teriyaki sausage rolls + Spinach salad & pineapple salsa + Peanut butter pie
Western style beef & baked beans + Cooked carrots + White Rice + Liqour brownies
Kalua pig + Teriyaki vegetables + Sweet rolls + Sweet wine pie
Broccoli nacho bake + Romaine salad & tomato salsa + Cinnamon cookies

as to Indian food in the States:
I live in a city (Nashville) with a little over a million people in the metropolitan area, and there are some ethnic food shops at which one could likely find good curry.
i prefer leaving it to the pros... there are several Indian restaurants in the city, and my favorite among them has a $5.99 lunch buffet: usually some really hot brown stuff with chickpeas in it; nam (or nan, i forget which) bread; the paper-thin crisp bread; Indian baked/charred chicken (forget what it's called); saffron rice; and one or two chicken curry dishes.
for six bucks, it's a great deal.

second thing, the tortellini bolognese:
yeah, that bolognese stuck in all the nooks and crannies of the tortellini... a food marriage made in heaven, tortellini and bolognese sauce!

Oh, and if you ever feel like tampering with your masterpiece recipe at all, you should try and add a pinch of ground cinnamon to it. Just a pinch. It's incredible, really brings out the flavour of the sauce. Got the tip from an Italian friend. And no, you won't taste the cinnamon in the sauce, it just folds right into the other flavours.

Monday Lunch: Polska Kielbasa (grilled), Pierogies (fried or baked), and Cola.
Monday Dinner: Fettucini Alfredo with Beef, Breadsticks with a side of seasoned Olive Oil for dipping, and a nice, tall Coke Float.
Tuesday Lunch: Meaty Chicago style Deep Dish Pizza and a Cola.
Tuesday Dinner: New York Strip Steak (well done), Mashed Potatoes (I saw that cheap shot at me, Frang!) with brown gravy, and seasoned green beans (not too spicy). For dessert, it'd have to be genuine New York stye Cheesecake and a few scoops of French Vanilla ice cream.
Wednesday Lunch: Barbecued Brisket (Texas style with a tomato-based BBQ sauce), seasoned Mashed Potatoes with brown gravy, BBQ Beans, Macaroni 'n' Cheese, and a Root Beer.
Wednesday Dinner: Baked Ham, Mashed Potatoes with brown gravy (yeah, I said I liked potatoes), a side bowl of slowly cooked Pork Stew, and a Cream Soda.
Thursday Lunch: Spaghetti with chunky meatballs, Breadsticks with marinara sauce for dipping, and a Cola.
Thursday Dinner: Won Ton Soup, Pot Stickers, Sweet 'n' Sour Pork, Fried Rice, and Tea (Italian at 12:00 PM and Chinese at 5:00 PM... Good stuff). For dessert, it has to be those creampuff balls.
Friday Lunch: A meaty Hoagie, Chips, a side of Pierogies and a Cola.
Friday Dinner: Beef Pot Roast, Mashed Potatoes with brown gravy, Green Beans and a Cola. For dessert, it's three layer Chocolate Cake.
Saturday Lunch: Four Pancakes with lots of butter and maple syrup, four slices of Bacon, four links of Sausage, scrambled Eggs with Cheddar cheese, Hash Browns (also with Cheddar), and a Cream Soda.
Saturday Dinner: Grilled meats. This consists of Bratwurst, Kielbasa, and Italian Sausage. Sides of mashed Potatoes with brown gravy and Macaroni 'n' Cheese, served with a Cola. For dessert? Flan!
Sunday Lunch: Wiener Schnitzel with mashed Potatoes and white cream gravy, green beans, a roll, and a Cola.
Sunday Dinner: Roast Duck with orange sauce stuffed with carrots and onions, mashed Potatoes with brown gravy, Stuffing, and a Cola.
Oh yeah, that's the stuff.

REAL homemade ice-cream.
NOT the crap made with half&half. The kind made with a minimum of 1/2 HEAVY cream. Not the cream from a store, the kind you can only get from the few farmers left that separate milk. The kind that can't be poured because it's a thick as soft margarine.
Then REAL eggs. Eggs from chickens that have seen light, and bugs, and weeds. Chickens that have lived long enough to produce a real LARGE egg.
And of course sugar.
I mourn for those of you who have never had real ice-cream.

so they stick the beef/onions/peppers on the grill, let it cook for a minute... then stick the cheese on top of the meat (while still on the grill) so it melts and becomes one with the meat/onion/pepper mixture?

that in a nutshell is what a true cheesesteak is, but it is on an amoroso roll (haven't seen thsoe rolls anywhere else tho besides NJ).Oh and minced meat btw not big pieces (then it just tastes like a glorified roast beef sandwich)

they do put mayo on a cheesesteak with lettuce, fried onion and tomato. they call that a cheese steak hoagie (sub, grinder, hero, torpedo, whatever). I prefer the cheese steak hoagie, or the regular

lol! :p glad you liked it ;)
and i have considered putting in a little cream in the past... but its already incredibly rich as it is :D
cream either could make it inedible and too rich to eat, or could send it to the realm or superdeliciousness... i shall have to try next time (along with the cinnamon)
hmm i wonder if a little nutmeg might make a welcome (if subtle) addition too? goes well in the cheese sauce if you're making lasagne, but i wonder about bolognese...
i think i'd like England then. lol

seriously, indian food is everywhere here... come over and you'll be spoilt for choice!
(and its nan or naan depending on where you are - different places always spell things differently... i think its different regions of india spelling them differently, though i'm not sure. you'll also find tikka massala spelt anything from "musala" to "marsala" so... *shrugs*)
in fact, i think i'm gonna try my hand at your recipe... grab some ingredients on the way home and make a mess in the kitchen. hehe
oooh thats a real compliment if you're going to try it... good luck (let me know how it turns out) :fluffle:
you know its good when you take it out the oven and it looks awful and burned on the top, kinda like a mousse... but fret ye not, stir it and the burned bits (which are mostly herbs anyway) will go away and add to the flavour :)

when i go to England, there are some things i'll have to do:
1) Go to a soccer game (preferably at ManU, Liverpool, Newcastle or one of the big London clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea or Spurs)
2) Check out Stone Henge and Oxford
4) Check out some nice pubs... see if the Bass and Guinness (et al.) taste better there.
3) Eat... and eat... and eat.

Not only do we not have pies here, we also don't have the ready-made pie shells which would enable baking-impaired me to make my own pies. 'Tis all very sad. :(
So the last time I had pie was a loooong time ago, but my favorite by far has to be strawberry rhubarb. Bliss. Of course, I love rhubarb in all shapes and sizes, but strawberry rhubarb pie... *drools*

So the last time I had pie was a loooong time ago, but my favorite by far has to be strawberry rhubarb. Bliss. Of course, I love rhubarb in all shapes and sizes, but strawberry rhubarb pie... *drools*
mmmmmmm, strawberry/rhubarb. yum.
pumpkin, blueberry, strawberry... other pies i like.

An omelette (sp?) is fuckin' good. My aunt puts cheese and tomatoe in it. It's great. Home-made chocolate chip biscuits. Avacado and cucumber salad (with lettuce etc). Cucumber and cheese. I dunno, other random shit.
