I've recently seen "The world's 100 best cartoons" on E4, and I realised that cartoons seem to be something very country specific indeed. There were cartoons, even in the top 10, that I had never heard about, while I was definitely missing some of my own childhood favourites.

Okay, preliminary results:

I'm from Germany and I know all but 6, 9, 12, 18, 23.

And I already love you for reminding me of 2, 8, 20, and 26! :)

Do any of the pics display correctly for you? Then maybe it's just a problem with my settings...:confused:

6 is hotaru no haka (grab der gluehwuermchen) an anime, they have aired on arte a few times and 12 is "lollek und bollek", Whereyouthinkyougoing.

For me, only 2, 9, 18, 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30 are displayed directly, the rest are links, which is fine. After all, it's just one click away.

24 is also kind of displayed, although it's just an icon saying you're not supposed to display their pictures & create unwanted traffic

5 is a screwed up link.

I think I'll just change them all to links....

12 is "lollek und bollek"
Yeah, I gathered as much from the fact that it says "lolek" in the link, but I guess I must have never watched it, because, surprisingly, I didn't recognize the pic.

24 is The animals of farthing wood - and it used to own so hard.

Problem is that without titles, many of those look familiar,.

Some well dodgy foriegn cartoons there, whats the bloke and the friggin harp all about.

Who would be interested in putting your comments forward on these channel 4 top 100's. Also any different new top 100's you could mention would be good, ive already bagsied top 100 shoes,top 100 wars in history and top 100 sweets and an up to date 100 films list as the old one xclude all of the top films in the past few years, Lord of the rings and dare say it harry potter which I think is a pile of crud but thanks to it's greedy writer getting kids to want every frikkin piece of merchandise she is shovelling into their faces she is still piling out new needless films, which are completely crud, over cgi'ed and needless needless needless needless needless needless cos I think she has enough money now to pay off several third world countries debts.

I'm Dutch btw, from The Netherlands..and I'm 32 yrs old.

number 9 is a french film called Kirikou et la Sorciere.

Rumor has it that it was not distributed in the US due to the graphic depictions of breasts. It takes place in and around a small african village. No one wears shirts and Kirikou (the baby boy in the pic) wears nothing at all.

My 3 year old daughter loves it. I took her to see the sequel in the theatre a month or so ago.

Jesus, how could I forget those??? I used to love them, even as an adult. Or science and biology teacher would actually show and episode now and again in class, because they were that great. Especially "Es war einmal ... das Leben", where they explain the human body. I just adored the neurons!
