Since it hasn't been done yet, I'm going to do it. Post your plans, hopes and activities leading up to, and, in the lack of anything more fun, on, Valentines day.

Got no plans this time round.

Of all the days I should be hooking up with some girl, I'm gonna be tutoring kids at elementary school. :(
Oh well, at least I have my hand to keep my company afterwards.

Valentines Day is a conspiracy invented by Hallmark, jewelry retailers, and flower growers who seek to control men. They use massive propoganda to brainwash women, who in turn will not have sex with men unless we buy them Hallmark cards, jewelry, and flowers.

I, for one, refuse to be swayed by this fascist conspiracy- I will keep my hard earned dollars and spend it on porn. Which I will now be needing.

My boyfriend hasn't been entirely inclusive of the plans, but from what my side includes, it first involves him switching his work schedule, because they fucked him over. If that doesn't happen, I'll wait up at work until close with his present (I got him a book on Carnival acts, 'cause he's quirky like me) and a card I made him. I believe he's getting me clothes of some sort, or maybe he just asked me something to throw me off the scent.....and I think he's making vegetarian lasagna for me, because he's a darling.

Rumour has it I might be getting diamonds then  Not that I didn't know about the diamonds, but I didn't know I would be getting them that soon. I was expecting he wouldn't get the ring for a few months.

Owch. I've been there. Last valentine I got dumped by my gf as a reply to my valentine's day message to her

This time I don't think I'll bother somehow...

I don't believe in Valentines Day. The truth is that we should love eachother everyday and not just express it one day every year...:mp5:

Post your plansI plan not to to realize it's been valentines day till it's passed.

hopesNevertheless I have that faint hope some cute girl might come along and sweep me off my feet (hey, why not, they're emancipated now right, so they can do the sweeping.. erm.. I mean.. off-the-feet-sweeping, not floor sweeping, which they can still do, if they want, but they could have done that before..)

and activities leading up to"The same thing we do every night Pinky, try to take over the world"
Or at least the same thing as usual. Work on my masters' thesis, eat, sleep, surf the net, read a few hundred webcomics..

On Valentine's Day? I will be making signs that say "End this pathetic Hallmark marketing scam now," sticking pins in Barbie and Ken dolls and watching violent movies. Unless of course someone sends me a card.

Actually...Valentines day started as a tribute to St Valentine and is most remembered as the day that the St. Valentines Day Massacure happened.

Anyways, enough with the history lession.

I can't really do anything on Valentines day seeing as my Fiance has classes till 8pm. So we were going to celebrate it early. We were going to go out this weekend and have a good time (not sure what were doing yet, but there's time for me to think...).

Personally, I am in two minds. Could go to party on Friday night, and Aiden concert on Saturday, and play the desperate romantic. Or be post-modern and damn frustatrated for a further year.:(

Help?

I wished her a happy valentines day, and asked her if she wanted to meet up. In her message she said she was AREADY out with someone else!

I got my husband a gift certificate for a free 1 hour massage, and some other stuff, that he doesn't know about yet, so I can't post it, since he reads the forums. He didn't get me anything.

I shall be completely ignoring it. I've always thought it's a tacky waste of money personally. My boyfriend and I acknowlege our affection every day, go out for meals when we feel like, buy each other stuff when we feel like it. I don't see why we should do that on one particular day. Furthermore, the public displays of affection and the general mush one sees on the day are irritating in the extreme.

Yes I pretty much agree. Except I wouldn't go as far as to call it a "conspiracy" nor do I have such a dismal opinion of women in general.

Yeah, ultra-bitch. Cheating on you then dumping by text message is a capital offence.

At least she was honest.
Far from it. The casual cruelty implies a build-up of bad feeling, which in such situations is usually not adequately expressed until it's too late. Honesty would have been discussing the problem a long time before it came to the action described.

Having taken a few classes on marketing (and read Syrup :p), I feel fully justified in calling the situation a "conspiracy".

I do not have a dismal opinion of women. I just understand the concepts of propoganda, brain washing, and mob psychology. It fits. The same can be applied to why men do some things that make no sense.

My plans? Dig around in my closet to find my good pair of black jeans. Break out the black longsleeve t-shirt and black sweatshirt. Protest the pinky-red tackiness which materializes each Feb 14th.

...and expect my husband to take me out to the store the 15th and pick me up some extremely-discounted chocolate, because I like chocolate, and maybe some of those little spicy hot hearts he likes.

Ehh.....They'd ask questions though....And my parents are black...and from the south (Louisiana and Alabama) whiiiich inherently means they're Christian. And they'd ask questions. first that, whoever it was, it'd be a white girl, either 3, 4 or 14 years older than me, but the most damaging part would be thaat it'd be someone I'd met over the 'net, and we know how that can be with an older generation slightly in fear of the computer...(I mean no offense to old people....)

"Ah, the internet, where the men are men, the women are men, and the children are FBI agents"

(Of course, I'd be sure to find them in a well-lit, public place with lots of witnesses. (b^_^)b)

Well, tomorrow night I'm going to a Victoria's Secret private shopping thingie to get something sexy (and just to generally have fun while people try to get me to buy lots of lingerie hehe). I'm hoping to get something I can wear under normal clothes so that my fiance will know I have it on all day while we're at our respective workplaces. =) Since it's a weekday, we'll probably go out to eat somewhere - probably Japanese. He'll get a little tipsy on sake, then we'll go home and he'll get to see the lingerie again. =)
