Buy her chocolates. Absolutely everyone in existance likes chocolates. And if worse comes to worst you can always eat them yourself.

Simple is best. Don't try too hard. She might see it as overkill and smothering.
A card with a nice ramble of your own on the inside, simple chocs (not Ferrero Rocher- try Leonidas, or Butlers) and maybe a single rose.
Too complex plans can be spoiled by the teensiest of things- Murphy's Law. ;)
Good luck.

calm down calm down. I can suggest some things.
Depending on how old you are, you need to definitely with draw an amount of money. Buy:
1.Chocolates
2.Flowers (variety of roses, but majority need to be red)
3.A sensible romantic card
4.Maybe a reservation to a classy restaurant?
Now, it is best that you also, ALSO, write her a very deep loving note about how beautiful she is to you and how you fall in love with her again and again. Or, well you get the idea, my last relationship we never said the three letter phrase..
Next try and find something comical...I read somewhere(don't make fun of me)that you have one of your friends that the date doesn't know so well run by and steal her purse or something and you run after him and save it from the bad guy. It's cute, if you pull it off, she laughs a little and everything.

What if it rains?
Well maybe I'm just the craziest girl in the world, but the most romantic thing my boyfriend has done for me is that one really rainy night a few months back, we went to a park to play in the rain on the playground. When the lightning started up, we took shelter in one of the little houses in the play-village, and just watched the storm. On the way back to the car he stopped me just to kiss me and tell me how much he loved me.
Rain isn't always a problem, y'know ;)

It's all representative of how much work you put into it. I hate the rain like crazy. I hate going outside unless it's sunny, 76 F, and only has a slight breeze. But if a boy puts enough into an activity, they can make it the most enjoyable, awesome thing in the world. You just have to make her believe it was worth it.

Eh? What is this "Valentine's Day" thing you speak of? And "girlfriend"? I know not of this thing.
Oh, wait wait wait. Does this have something to do with... y'know... that thing... what was it called...
Oh, yeah! A "life"?

For me, a single red rose always works better on the sentimental side of things better then a dozen red roses. That and a dozen red roses costs and arm and a leg....

Cooking for her is always a plus, if you're good at it. Especially if you have one dish in particular that you know she loves.
My advice is to think about this kind of shit beforehand. If she was important to you then you would have figured this out a while ago.
My Valentine's Day is going to kick ass <3

Meh. Whatever you plan will go wring. So don't plan anything.
Presents: By Chocolates, a SINGLE rose, a card, and MAKE something yourself, to show your willing to give not just money but time and thought for her.
That's what I'm doing anyway.

Well I've got to run downstairs for a bit and I"ll probably miss out on the next few pages, but I'll tell you this -- if you're really into it, and if you're as sweet as you seem about the whole thing, she'll forgive if it doesn't go exactly as planned ;)

How does your date feel about V-Day? Some people dislike it.
Me and my fiancee both dislike V-Day, and feel it's highly over-rated and commercialized garbage. We celebrate anti-V-day and buy 1/2 priced chocolates afterwards, and simply enjoy and love each other every day. We don't need one day that the rest of the world uses as a cheap gimmick to show our affection towards each other.

Well this girl wanted to ask me just as a friend, and her friend told me this to test the waters for the girl. my pride jumped in IMMEDIATELY and I told the friend "no way I'd go with her, it'd just be awkward, she just wants me to go so she won't be alone."
Now what i should've thought was "hey, here is a chance to go on a great date with a girl, have a fun time, get to know her, and see if I really like her of if I have a chance"
but like I said, I was dumb.

I think you should just keep it simple and sweet. If it shows you put thought into it, then it doesn't need to be expensive. Buying lots of big flashy stuff doesn't show love, just what you're willing to do for a quick one, IMHO. It's the thought in it that counts.

well the problem now for me, is I want to go back to the friend and be like. "Wait I thought about this and I totally dig it."
But...then I'll just seem wishy-washy and untrustworthy
