Hi,

My Geogrpahy Professor has posted two question for us in the class today:

"Often, it is natural for people to focus on life occurring at the local level. However, as geographers in training, what rebuttal (answer) could you give if someone told you: "You're not from here?".

"Formulate one argument that supports and one argument that rejects the need for sweatshops in the world".

I would be interested to hear your reactions because I know there are people here who are good at answering those sort of questions. Thank you.

That's an interesting question, however, seeing as to how the world is getting smaller and smaller, due to globalization and information easily accessable on the internet and television for example, its become easier and easier for me to critique you on your country and flaunt how much better mine is.

"Formulate one argument that supports and one argument that rejects the need for sweatshops in the world".
Sweatshops provide me cheap goods, and the workers get money for their work.

Oh, yeah, forgot the negative. :P

They are stealing out jobs and they're not being paid enough.

That was easy.

"Formulate one argument that supports and one argument that rejects the need for sweatshops in the world""They need work" & "They're being exploited"

i think i would answer "neither are you"

The only differences between us are those socially constructed by ourselves and our forebears.

Hi,

My Geogrpahy Professor has posted two question for us in the class today:

"Often, it is natural for people to focus on life occurring at the local level. However, as geographers in training, what rebuttal (answer) could you give if someone told you: "You're not from here?"."but I am, Is just that my "here" is geographically much larger than your "Here" is. thus I am from 'here' but by your statement, you are not from where I am from." "Formulate one argument that supports and one argument that rejects the need for sweatshops in the world".For: due to the continual globilization of the world, many unskilled laborers are forced to find what-ever means to provide for their families. many children find food on their tables because their parents work at sweatshops.

Against: the conditions of sweatshops are just below the line of Slavery. deplorable conditions, with no reguard for the safety of the worker as well as the fact that their earnings are minimal... at best.

I would be interested to hear your reactions because I know there are people here who are good at answering those sort of questions. Thank you.

Sandyhope I didn't disappoint you.
