In another thread, concerning possible warfare between China and the USA, i stumbled across the term "In a stand up World War II/ Red Dawn style of fight".

Could someone kindly elaborate upon 'Red Dawn', what does it mean, when was it coined etc.?

Thanks.

Red Dawn in a movie, made in the 80's, in wich the USSR attacks the US.

Its set in a rural town, and russians and cubans paratroop into it. They, of course being of the deepest bowels of hell, shoot the place up. Anyways, some children escape. THey fight guerrilla style in the mountains. Along the course of the movie, they single handedly destroy the equivalent of 10 armor divisions.

Anyways, i guess they mean guerrilla warfare.

Being as they are Americans, and therefore one-hundred times more likely to suceed in a millitary engagement, regardless of arms, training etc. By kids do you mean teens or elementary?

Col. Andy Tanner: ...The Russians need to take us in one piece, and that's why they're here. That's why they won't use nukes anymore; and we won't either, not on our own soil. The whole damn thing's pretty conventional now. Who knows? Maybe next week will be swords.

Darryl Bates: What started it?

Col. Andy Tanner: I don't know. Two toughest kids on the block, I guess. Sooner or later, they're gonna fight.

Jed Eckert: That simple, is it?

Col. Andy Tanner: Or maybe somebody just forget what it was like.

Jed Eckert: ...Well, who *is* on our side?

Col. Andy Tanner: Six hundred million screaming Chinamen.

Darryl Bates: Last I heard, there were a billion screaming Chinamen.

Col. Andy Tanner: There *were*.

It's a movie about C. Thomas Howell and Patrick Swayze leading a bunch of kids into victorious battle against the entire Soviet and Cuban army. Based on the real-life 1984 Soviet/Cuban invasion of Montana.

That movie had an amazing cast.....You don't think the US could have been saved without Jennifer Gray, Allie Sheede (spelling), and most importantly, Charlie Sheen?? You really can't have a "Crazy Swayze weekend" without watching Red Dawn...

I think that happened to me in a Civ 4 game not to long ago...

It's a Saturday morning propaganda cartoon, it follows "Jo-Jo's Circus" on CBS.

Do not watch that movie. It is without a doubt one of the worst movies I have ever seen in my life.
